VF-0A/S w/Ghost

Posted by berNERD [www]

I was searching around ebay.ph and was lucky to find this kit for about $35, which is a great buy cuz Hobby Search has this kit for $37 without shipping and handling and has been "Long Sold Out". Luckily for me the seller also lives my area, so a simple meet was arranged and model kit GET!

I'm not sure if this is a rare find also.

This will be my first Macross kit, so I don't know if I will glue for this. I've built a couple of NG Seed kits, HG Gundam 00 kits, and a 1/100 Exia, but like I said, this will be my first Macross kit so I'm not really sure how to assemble it. I can see from the runners that it has small pegs when connecting the molded parts together. Will it be able to hold?

Oh the decals they're the ones where you soak them in water. A first for me too, hope I don't screw this up.

It comes with the Ghost. A small UAV attached to the dorsal side of the plane. Oh and it comes with decal for when you want it to be a standard VF-0A or the VF-0A Roy Focker's Custom Colors?

How was macross zero, not sure if I wanna watch it cuz from what I read on figure.fm, the series starts good but then sucks...i watched frontier though, I might get a model, can these things transform into gerwalk or battroid mode or does that only come in the chogokin?

I've never really watched the whole Macross Zero series. I've watched it up to the part where the birdman was about to be stolen, then I moved to an area where the internet was super slow, that I gave up on it. I've also never watched Macross Frontier, other than the first episode.

The kit doesn't transform, there's a separate kit for that, hehe ^_^;; but what I do like about this kit and the Battroid version, is that they both look awesome. Kinda like today's Macross Frontier kits, where they look super sexy with all the curves and proportions are just right.

and I don't think Hasegawa made a Gerwalk version of this.

I see, no wonder the robot damashii one can't transform either and I don't have the funds for the chogokin, it's spanking 160 dollars and there's still shipping left. >.<

Btw, do you like gundam modeling cuz I saw that gn sefer in the background. XD

You bet I do, I've got a couple of HG 1/144 Gundam 00 kits, still waiting for my Hobby Japan with XN Raiser, to arrive.

Zero = first time CG Dogfight. it's nicely coordinated, but sadly, it's not that great in story -or has some story continuity issue with the original Macross... it's meh at best

You'll need to glue that. And that thing don't transform. It's just a static display kit. Good find nonetheless.

What kind of glue should I use? Regular super glue? I know there are glues out there for model kits, but I don't think they sell those here in my area.

Go to a hobby store in your area.. they'll have plastic model cement.. Its the most common glue there is I think

        tamiya cement
tamiya thin cement would be better, but note that it will be less "tacky"
and tamiya cement is some sort of solvent of model kit plastic, it melt the glued portion, so once other part are applied, it will bond each other, by melting it and enters the 1st part chemical component

to be more easier to explain, get some sprue(your kit tree), then glue it to other sprue with tamiya cement
and then cut the glued part after it dries, u will see the glued part will be kinda melted

after you manage to glued it, if there seem to be some sort of gap, grap a tamiya putty, the grey paste like matter, and rub it on that gap, then sand it,
that's how to erase seam line

so GHOST was already made from before the zentradian war eh...
tho this version is really... old or manually controlled, i just don't see a point to bring a recon unmanned jet fighter on another man-piloted jet fighter
GHOST are quite similar to our nowadays PREDATOR, but there's no F-16 -> higher with spec to aid PREDATOR or carrying it
