New anime in production from Aniplex and A-1 Pictures, soranotowo means "sounds from the sky", and it will transmited in January in TV Tokyo, the director will be Mamoru Kanbe from Elfen Lied, the story is about soldier girls who defends a fortress and they play music, reactions from 2ch and 4ch are hard because of the story and character desing similarities with K-ON!

Though the character designs do resemble K-ON!, the actual animation and story are both pretty far off base. The setting change from a laid-back high school backdrop to the defense of European style castle in a fictional alternative WWII era setting is enough to drastically alter the feeling of the series regardless of Kanata's resemblance to Yui both in narrative and physical appearance. It's also important to consider the stark possibility that Soranowoto has been in planning for quite a while prior to Masayuki Shimada announcing it at the end of July. The overlap is close to the middle of K-ON!'s and ending but its still very difficult to tell how much of this resemblance is intentional and how much is coincidental. At any rate, Soranowoto looks absolutely conceptually and mechanically amazing. Any one who wouldn't give it a chance because of a half-baked resemblance to K-ON! is crazy.
I agree. Put aside the similarities with K-ON and give this anime an open minded opportunity to impress. The animation and story look promising.
Well I do see what they mean, some of the girls do have very similar faces, and that blonde megane girl in particular looks alot like Mugi.
But storywise and animationwise, different. Looks nice. Calming. Kinda the same effect Aria had on me lol.
That said... I bet we could find anime or manga that K-on! resembles. Since hardly anything is original nowadays, same with music n tv, borrowing of styles or themes is always going on.
Nothing's been original since Greek drama.
Since i can't read Japanese, it kinda looks like a game to me...
no problem with the design, it looks like a good anime hmm~~ and it sound like a good story... 2ch and 4ch member reaction i don't give a shit and Anonymous ( ; ´Д`)/ agree with u
Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle for example, The characters look similar here too right? Is not this considered artistic style of the creator? The look and feel? You don't see people complaining about these. So why complain about similarities here?
*ahem*
I'm looking forward to this.^^
But, K-ON and this aren't by the same company...so there's no reason for this to be in Kyo-Ani's current style (I say current since their works today are much different than what they did in 2006 and before). If it was in their style more like that of the original Haruhi, from before, and this was directed by Yamakan, that would make sense, but no, this is in the style of K-ON!...
I hate to say it but, the similarity in the animation has me disliking it already... the story seems interesting though.
So Kakifly is not the artist? And everyone is sure there's nothing more behind this? Like one of his friends that used to help with the manga? It just seems a bit odd that a direct imitation at this level would be shown to the world so blatantly. But then I have heard that imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Still, I highly suspect there's more to this then what "I" can see so far. Or what has been said here.
I wish I could be there to ask personally. ('~')
I've heard around that this show might have a Kino no Tabi feel to it, if so I'll definitely stick this!
Looks good! And I guess it's a little similar to K-ON style...
Is it from KyoAni?
This is by Aniplex and Studio A1, the guys that did Ga-Rei Zero.
Read the guy's post carefully next time, he's already mentioned it.
My bad, somehow I mixed up A1 Pictures with AIC Spirits (who did Ga-Rei Zero), perhaps it has something to do with being 3am over here.
A1 Pictures did Kuroshitsu.
Pardon the triple post. Had a bit of an error as I clicked submit.
A1 Pictures did Kuroshitsuji, Kannagi, Valkyria Chronicles and Ookiku Furikabutte.
Wow, they wasted getting Kishida Meru to do the character designs when it ended up being someone else for it.
Just a little note, it looks like it reads Sora no Woto, not Sora no Towo.
I wanted to mention that as well. ^ ^;
It really does look like K-ON!, I was a bit surprised but I find it pretty interesting. Sadly I will be avoiding this because it looks like a sad story. Of course I am just guessing from the trailer.
