Setting up more display cases

Since I was running low on display space, I hit up IKEA over the weekend and picked up two more DETOLF display cases. Rin now has a new home! I particularly like the night time shot with the lamps turned on. I'd also used some electrical tape to help hide the wires on top and installed a wire conduit on the back to run the cable down the back. More pictures (and closeups) available at my blog.

Show of cases during the day. Also pre-electrical tape for hiding the wires...

Rin takes up a lot of room :x You don't like having anything on the bottom shelf do you Ed? XD
Should seal the detolfs with the foam weather striping so less dust gets in! ^^ It's cheap and my first three detolfs still show no dust with a finger swipe after 6 months ^^
I might do that, though the other two cases I have don't seem to have much dust in them (if any at all). How does it affect the ability to open and close the door?
That depends on how you put the weather striping on. Sometimes I've had to slowly pull the striping back up and then move it back a little. For all 7 it isn't a problem opening them. Although I rarely open them ^^ I could take some pictures for reference and also find out what size of weather striping I am using (I think 5/16th but not sure. I know it's only $2 at Walmart)
Yummy display case is Yummy.
I just wish we have an IKEA here in Clovisland (Phils.)
Got the same display case, only 1 though |D
My rooms a bit too small for more. Could probably squeeze in 1 more of I shifted some things around, but then you'd walk straight into the thing after opening the door.
Good and cheap (Compared to others).
Gotta find some cheap transparent blocks or something to make organizing a bit easier.
Wow, Rin is so tall.
Nice Tenjho Tenge bome collection, you got both versions. Wish there's more Aya and Maya figures.
I adopt a similar approach to displaying figures. The shorter ones (small 1/8 figures or kneeling figures) in front, and the larger ones behind.
Yep! Though one of the Maya figures took a header when my cat knocked her off the bookshelf so she's missing her antennae :(
Nice going Ed, may be Rin can start at the bottom shelf since she is tall enough to be visible from any line of sight? Personally, I hate putting any figures below knee level since I can't see them well enough when I am standing up.
There are some figures which display well, even if you put them in lower shelves.
I believe a good example would be Daiki Kougyo Suzumiya Haruhi (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10077102 ), since her pose is facing up. Conversely, Max Factory Kasumi (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10042491 ) would be a poor candidate for displaying in the bottom shelves.
If it were me, I'll put the most favorite figures at the top shelves. Moreover, for some reason, the very bottom shelf seem to attract alot of dust. I don't know why that is the case, it's quite puzzling.
Well if you consider the way the figure is facing then it can get very complicated and may inadvertently force different scale figures in the same area thus creating a void in space. I use billy bookshelves as my display cabinet of choice and I arrange my collection in the most space efficient manner and simply don't put anything below knee level, except now all the dollfies lives on the ground level.
I've played around with putting figures on the bottom shelf, though it doesn't seem to work well. My other cases have a few items in the bottom and you can't really see them too well... Might try it with Rin, though I think I like where she is now. :)
Obviously, the optimum location is eye level, basically where you have her. However, in the overall scheme of things it would work better as a whole if you let Rin start from the bottom shelf.
Possibly, though I did want to make Rin the center of attention in that display. It'd be harder for her to do that if she were on the bottom shelf and shielded from the light sources.
If only there was an Ikea here in Manila. I could use a detolf shelf.
I understand there is an Ikea in Makati, which is part of Manila. Or am I mistaken?

Rather than an official Ikea store, it appears to be a store that imports Ikea products. Apologies for the mix-up.
It hardly has much. I live and work around the area.
wish there was Ikea here. nice choice of display cases. Night lights give it a good feel. like museum environment.
Read your comment a little too quick and made a reference to "Night at the Museum"
The figures come alive at night? ^^
...that would be a scary scenario... A lot of them would start fighting with each other, I think.
Rin would win though ^^
I dunno, Yoko does have a big gun, and Shana has a flaiming sword. Arika has her Bolt From the Blue which could do some crazy damage. Roppanmatsu has incredible amount of cute in addition to being a stupidly powerful cyborg...
Those shelf's look awesome, especially at night. Would buy some but don't have that much figures to display. Rin looks nice and cozy but I would leave her out so you can play with her more^^ I didn't realize that Dolfies were so big ether 'o'
Looks lovely! ^^
Would love to get some Detolf display cases later on, but they don't seem entirely sealed, won't dust pile up inside anyway then?
I'm not having much issue with the other two that I have, though Syaoran has a good suggestion for sealing them off.
Nice. I have to get some of these too the moment I get my own place. That won't be for atleast a year though ^^;
I should consider investing in one of those cases
