Revenge of the Evil Discount Santa Outfit

Posted by otakudepot [www]

Ok, maybe this title is a little exaggerated but it really ended up on my bad side. You will see why in the 2nd half of this post.

Last week I was ordering a wig from LeekeWorld when I saw they had a really cool looking santa style Christmas outfit on sale for only $20 - what a great deal? Must be an after Christmas sale. Yea!

I got the outfit the other day and I really liked the look of it. It's very Christmasy without being the typical outfit. Yukino was the model for the day since she's new in the house so she got to try it on and she really looked cool.

Since it was a a red felt material I didn't want her wearing it long so we jumped right into the photos:

I don't yet own a nice pair of black boots for my girls so I had to settle for these shoes.

In this shot she almost looks like some type of Christ pirate!

Arggghhhh!!!!

I was really happy with the outfit and at this time my only negative was that it's a long time till Christmas when my girls can enjoy wearing this again.

The entire time she was in the outfit was about 20 minutes but that's all that it took. My poor Yukino got some stains on her. :(

I'm grateful that they are rather minor though the fact that she has to go through S.R.T. (Stain Removal Therapy) is something I'm not looking forward to at all. I took some photos of the problems below so I can measure my progress as she gets her treatments.

She's pointing to a small black mark above her right breast but the big issue is the red discoloration on her forearm and hand. Lightroom automatically puts my logo in the corner and it stuck it right over her finger in this shot, that's where she got the worst of it.

A better shot of her finger stain. If I had to look on the positive side of things the reddish stain on some of the joints almost makes it look like she's had some body-blush painting.

Another black smudge area on her shoulder area!!! You can see some reddish coloring around her chest joint as well in the background.

Thankfully Yukino's been in really good spirit about it and doesn't mind at all. She's letting me know it's hardly noticeable.

She said 'It's proof that I'm doing things and having fun. The only way to make sure it wouldn't happen is if I was still in my box - and I wouldn't want that at all!'

(She's such a trooper) :)

Thankfully I've seen some posts from people like our own Wolfheinrich about using Remove Zit to clear up staining. I plan on ordering some soon and hope it won't take more than 2 or 3 treatments till she's back 100% again.

While searching online I've also found a product called Retayne which is supposed to set dye color into cloth. I don't know if it works or not but I may try this as well.

I also don't plan on letting the Evil Discount Santa Outfit near my girls again until it gets fixed. If that's not possible then it doesn't have much of a future! :D

She so good about that. Even with the stains though Sakura wants to try the outfit on. She said she still wants her turn. haha

I going to have to put it on a very high shelf so she doesn't get into it when I'm at work.

        LOL Sakura being the eldest daughter can be a handful huh? XD But if the stains are light sometimes they do go away after a while, but good to have removezit or oxy10 around ^^;

For future reference, I heard that soaking doll-clothes that you buy in vinegar (and water, I think) before you put them on your girls helps to take out the dye that will stain. (Though, I'd try it on a small area of the clothing before dunking the entire thing in).

(and if I find the link where I read that, I'll make sure to link it. ^^; )

I hope her stain-removal-therapy goes well~ and I like her attitude :) She is right about that!

I've heard of that as well, I've even done it with a Miku outfit I have:

      http://www.figure.fm/post/en/15121/Miko+Sakura.html

The trouble is I did the vinegar/water soak before ever having her try it on so I'm not sure if it helped or was the outfit not going to stain her anyway. hehe

You have to be careful with soaking cloths, it only works well if your cloths are only one color, or all dark colors... having white areas like the santa suit, the white can be easily dyed to pink when soaking with such bright red colors. The only thing you can really do with such outfits are to protect your girl with clear plastic wrap or some sort of inner body suit.

I wish I would have bought the remove zit before. I've heard it can take a few weeks to show up and then the treatments can take a few days to a week. Better to get it just in case.

It's definitely the cloth as the coloring isn't in specific spots but over the entire area of her body. I'm pretty sure her hand got stained from the pose she did while kneeling on one knee. You can see her hand touching the side of the red fabric.

Even though she only spent about 20 minutes in the outfit I bet her hand was touching the fabric for only 5 minutes or so when it got that stained....

Damn... that's cheap coloring on the fabric or not enough heat while coloring...
I think that's why it was "discounted" at the first place.

Well, need to learn what stain and not from now... ^^,

I wonder if the staining had to do with why it was priced so low? It's a beautiful outfit and your girl looks wonderful in it! The good thing is that DD staining comes out very easily. When I first bought my Sirius she had a few stains on her body. I managed to get the majority of them out by cleaning her daily with a little bit of rubbing alcohol and water.

I wish you luck with your stain removal treatment!

@otakudepot Depends on the severity the stain and the affected area, sometimes pimple cream might be adequate. But if the stain is deep it will take weeks for 10% pimple cream to remove the stain. Remove zit is a much more powerful stain removal agent and can remove the stain 3-4X faster but it's not as widely available as pimple cream. At the end of the day, it's up to you to decide~

It's too bad this did that staining on poor Yukino. It's a really neat looking outfit too.

The RemoveZit is prolly the best way to go but if you can't get any, I have personally used Oxy10 on my Yoko ( who had MUCH worse staining than Yukino ) and it took the stains out with no problems. But I did have to do lots of treatments to get the stains completely gone.

Using the Oxy10, I smothered it on and rubbed it in deep. Then I globbed it on top of the stained areas and left it on all day under a bright desklamp. After about 6-7 hours, I wiped away the dried up stuff and cleaned it with a wet cloth. Then I did the whole thing over again. Wolf is right that it takes time but Oxy10 is cheap and easy to get here. So you can use it knowing it WILL cure Yukinos stains, it will just take some time. I hope everything goes well for you!

Thanks for the info. I saw some info online about putting them in sunlight to help speed it up but I was a wasn't sure about that as I hadn't heard of anybody with DD's doing it. Interesting to hear about the lamp idea.

I'm going to order Remove Zit as it's online, I may even get 2 to have some for possible future use, but I think I've heard it takes a while to get. Here is a link if anybody else needs it:

Well, the whole sunlight bit is basically being used as an accelerator. The UV light is supposed to make the stain lifting process speed up. That desk lamp is the type that uses a sunlight-simulating bulb and it's pretty intense so I measured how far away I could have it and it not make the vinyl too hot. After setting that up, that's when I did the Oxy10 applications and left them under the lamp. It did seem to help out too. It took about 6 treatments to get the stains on the front of Yoko's legs/thighs completely gone. I still need to treat an area on her tush but it's real hard to see so I am not too worried about it right now.

I hope you get the RemoveZit soon so Yukino can get well. She's being so good about this all, I'm glad to hear that.

When I first got Saber and put on her default outfit it left dark blue stains after being on for only 15 minutes or so. I did like balldylox and used Oxy10 (different brand but same active ingredient). I also placed the stained parts under a very close incandescent bulb. It did remove the stains but required a few days of treatments. I found that wrapping the parts in plastic food wrap helped keep the Oxy10 from drying out so fast. Not sure if that makes any difference or not as I haven't tried it without it.
