Dilemma + More Woodwork

Posted by SouthernBelleInCali [www]

Hey everyone! I have been gone for so long. I was really sick for about 2-3 months but I am better now. ^-^ Here is my dilemma: My doll room needs to be cleared out because someone is moving in. I do not have enough room to keep everything. My friends think I should just sell all my dolls and everything but I can't part with them or my figures. I have no idea what to do. I made this table so the girls could eat and have a place to socialize. I am thinking I could get rid of all my woodwork things (they always turn out bigger than expected) and keep all my dolls and clothes. This is made from pine wood so it is light and easy to move around. I don't even know if I should finish staining it and sealing it. Any thoughts/ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

I would offer a spot in my hobby trailer, out here in Tucson AZ. I think the major issue would be shipping costs and such.... lemme know what you think?....

You thinking of moving out of Cali?

I'd stain and seal the table and chairs for you if you thought of storing them out here....

I would love to move. Cost of living interferes with the hobbies. I think I will be stuck here for a few more years.

    Great furniture!
If you decide to sell it, I might buy some (depending on prices and such of course) ;)

Wow, that stuff looks good. Hm. . .

Well, I say definitely at least keep the dolls, but if their stuff is taking up that much space, it's probably time to cut the wardrobe down a bit. ^^; I'm sure you've got some stuff that just doesn't see enough use to justify keeping it by now, which would be welcome to other homes in the classifieds.

As for the furniture, it is rather nice, so having to get rid of it would be a bit sad. Is there any way you can tweak it so it can be taken apart and reassembled as needed? Like screws instead of nails, etc., so you can break them down into component pieces for easier storage and then dig them out for photoshoots and doll meets. (Actually, taking them apart would then prove a bonus on the meet front, since you could then more easily transport it to other locales too.) Though again, if that isn't feasible, or if during your general accessory cull you find that some of it is a bit superfluous, it would definitely be welcome in other places too.

So, I guess my advice comes down to: prioritize and re-engineer!

I agree with Poofiemus on this dilemma. Don't get rid of your last girls! Just sell some of their wardrobe and the bigger things like the table and cabinet. I know you put a lot of time into those and they look great but if it were me, I'd sell off my chairs and tables and such to be able to keep my girls. I'm sure you can use some thigh stands or similar to put the girls on a shelf in your room for the time being where they won't take up much space. Maybe clear out some other stuff to make room for them on top of a dresser or something like I did with mine? I know you can find a way to keep your girls. I'm glad to see you posting here again too!
