First Post! Tekkaman blade Resin WIP

Posted by C.R. [www]

Hey everyone! I've been a longtime lurker here and on DC's other sites for a long time. I was originally gonna do a post about my work area back when Otacool 3 was in the works, but never got around to it. That, and I wanted to get a better camera as well. Still working on the Camera( Wants Sony NEX-5 with the 18mm lens ^^;), but I really wanted to do a post for this and just spread more exposure about this.

A friend dropped off a late christmas gift to me a few days ago and man, is it awesome! I grew up with Tekkaman Blade while growing up(or Teknoman in the U.S.) and came onto it by accident when I was older. I even got my hands on the 2nd series(OVA) without knowing what it was! It was quite a revelation when I saw Blade in his armor after all these years. Needless to say, Tekkaman blade holds a special sentimental spot for me being one of the first pieces of anime I ever saw and probably helped start my interest in anime and mecha in general.

Now that the setup is done, The Gift was The Tekkaman Blade Full Action Resin Kit(Actually, it was listed as Space Knight Blade Full Action) and its fricking amazing! I've done add-on kits for gunpla and the like, but this is my first full Resin kit. Couldn't even wait for all my supplies to arrive before starting it. Its supposed to use aftermarket ball joints and ball peg style joints. BUNK that, Lets revoltech this baby!! Plus its resin, so the ratcheting joints probably last longer. Had to sacrifice my keroberos's revoltech joints til my order of joints come in the mail.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have a company or origin listed. Its sold at E2046, but not really any other info. If you're a Tekkaman Blade and like this design, you gotta check it out! Anyways, Hope this helps this very cool Kit's exposure a little. I'll probably do some more WIP and posts later on. Thanks for Viewing.

Note* - sorry for the lame cam quality. These were taken from my old digital Cam(wait for me, sony NEX-5!!)

Yup, thats how it comes to you. Will, a box or big yellow envelope.Then this. Its "Microwave Freshness". Probably not recommended to microwave your resin leftovers from the night before ^^;

The instructions are...not the greatest in the world. Luckily, its all pretty straight foreward.

All pieces laid out according to placement on body. 96 pieces total.

What's really a nice touch is that all the colored parts are separated. That means if this was recasted, it could be molded in color! The separate pieces also include all gem like pieces as clear resin.(scary to work with -_-") Makes spraying and airbrushing alot easier.

Check that detail out! The normal design is much more simple and streamlined so it had less raised sculpt and more panel lines to fill its details.

Look out, B-Club Manipulators!

Slowly coming together. Getting everything cleaned, sanded, drilled for pre-jointing before paint work.

The head sculpt is really great. The red part could use some putty for clean up though. Nothing's glued yet so just temporarily taped or just pieces resting on other parts. ugh, blurry.

I hope the paint work will do the details on this model justice. Oops, need more cleaning.

Would've been awesome if a revoltech style torso crunch could've been worked in. If there's ever a TB revoltech, I demand for such articulation!

long imposing exaggerated "mecha" proportions indeed. Put a human leg in there? Pssh, might be difficult...

Uh-oh, looks like the tape and pieces are starting to lose effectiveness. Having trouble with that breastplate there, D-boy?

Had enough joints left in Keroberos to joint up another arm. (sorry, Keroberos! you'll get the new joints from the mail when they arrive!)

Really coming together now. Can't wait to do more work.
