For those who are not in the know, I'm working with the figure maker Kotobukiya to publish a book containing photos of your rooms.

Mouseover = load notes.
OTACOOL submissions open

If you are interested in having the chance of having a photo of your room published in the book then read the following points before submitting:-

  • Kotobukiya will choose which rooms get to go in the book.
  • Kotobukiya cant send a copy of the book to all those who have their photo published - sorry! BUT! There is a giveaway involved so read until the end of the post!
  • Kotobukiya is free to use any of your photos that you tag "otacool" in marketing/promotional materials or in the actual book and ensure that you are credited. By tagging your room "otacool" also means that you agree not to sue Kotobukiya or myself for any reason whatsoever!
  • You should state how you want to be credited - whether a url or a name.
  • You must tag photos of your room as "otacool" if you want to participate.
  • Please do not submit an entry if you will feel offended that your photo was not chosen.
  • Please do not submit an entry if you are offended by being asked to post a photo of yourself in your room.

Mouseover = load notes.

OK! Now we have that out of the way, Kotobukiya would like to profile you more which would be good for your blog.
Please include the following and use the bullet point tags provided. The following information should be how you would like it to be printed in the book. It will also be translated into Japanese by Kotobukiya. If you spell your website wrong and it gets printed then its tough titties!
If you do not want to provide this info then please do not enter and do not complain.
This book is mainly for the Japanese audience which is why Kotobukiya would like to publish your nationality. Please do not interpret this as being racist in any way. I do not endorse racism in any form and any shit stirrers will be immediately banned.

  • Name (or nick name)
  • Age
  • How many years you have been an otaku
  • Nationality
  • Outline of your collection
  • How much your collection cost
  • Your fave item
  • Your website address
  • Anything else you want to say.

Rules

  • Anybody can enter, all you have to do is signup and start posting.
  • Please submit a photo of yourself in your room. You don't have to but the likelyhood of your room being chosen for the book increases by 9000%
  • Your room does not have to be packed with stuff - a stylish otaku room is fine too.
  • Entries from Singapore may be profiled at the OTACOOL Kotobukiya booth at the Anime Festival Asia this November where there will be a 1/1 scale replica of my office.
  • You have 2 weeks to submit your entry but if Kotobukiya think they have enough entries then they will close submissions.
  • Submit about 10 photos of your room - each photo can be up to 2mb.
  • Remember to tag your entry "otacool"
  • Please name your post like "Danny's Room"
  • You can submit photos that you submitted last time if you want. Does not have to be new ones.
  • Previous entries on dannychoo.com should be resubmitted because we didn't ask for permission to publish your photos previously. And Mirai Gaia stores your original photos which we will need as we need high res versions.
  • Please show dannychoo.com or figure.fm on your computer screen if possible like last time. Not compulsory though.

And what about the giveaway?
The five top rooms judged by Kotobukiya will win a free copy of the book *and* 1 of these gorgeous 1/6 scale figures of Asuka thats due out in October - more pics at Kotobukiya.

Apart from the 5 top rooms, 10 other rooms will receive a copy of the book only and that will be decided by a draw.

Kotobukiya will let me know who the winners are and send you your goodies directly. Asuka and the book will be sent when they are released at the end of the year.

Good luck! We are looking for a variety of rooms - mixtures, dollfie, starwars, machine guns, gundam etc. If you think your room may not be good enough then it probably means that it is good enough - submit it anyway!

97% of the rooms previously submitted on dannychoo.com were great so don't worry thinking that your room is not good enough!

I personally think that this is a great opportunity to work with a major figurine maker and I will make sure this is win win for all parties (which includes you).

      I think that we just need to add the neccesary details since our new pics are already on the otacool site. But danny will need to confirm.
      I'm more iffy about posting a pic of myself in my room. I'm notoriously camera-shy. I'll see how many others do it first... Yeah...

      And I see danny cleverly worked in a clause preventing us from suing him for anything, including non-otacool related stuff. Damn, there's my plan out the window.

              well, yeah! We CAN...
              But isn't that the crux of the argument?? *sighs* This requires some thought since one of the reasons I participated was due to the veil of anonymity on everyones posts.

    I really want to enter this one>.< Know I have to clean up my room but I really need to any way. I would be to embarrassed to take a picture of myself though.
    And Danny, I am in know way trying to be offensive, but whenever I read your articles and news tidbids you are so cool to me but whenever I read you rules for a giveaway or contest you sound so strict and scary. When you said "sh!+ stirrers" I was so scared even though I was in my own house. I would never never misbehave in that manner, but when I read that sentence I felt so scared that I could actually hear you say it in anger. Sorry if I sound rude. It just really scared me.^^;

    "Entries from Singapore may be profiled at the OTACOOL Kotobukiya booth at the Anime Festival Asia this November where there will be a 1/1 scale replica of my office."

    Whoa. That's...pretty amazing. ^^; I'm afraid I have to pass - I don't return to Toronto for another two and a half weeks, right after the submissions close. ><

    Still, a question for the curious or potential participants. What do they want with regards to "Nationality"? It can be interpreted differently. I am, for example, Chinese - but I live in Canada. Would I therefore put Chinese or Canadian down?

    Are "Book-Otaku" or "RPG-Otaku" also fine?

    I have hundreds of RPG books, and even more hundreds of reading books in my room. Heck, there's barely room for anything else. I have storage boxes of books in my room.
