Fukagawa Hachimangu Fest (Summer Series #5)

Posted by ahbonk [www]

Natsu Matsuri da! When you think of summer, you think of festivals!

Just one train line away from my apartment is the Fukagawa Hachimangu Festival, said to be historically one of three grandest festivals in the Edo era. Though now much smaller in scale, it still hosts performances that are sometimes not shown in other summer festivals. We have, on stage, traditional dances, drum performances, a harp musical and even a kendo tournament (the last two which I sadly couldn’t attend).

More pics, description and other summer activities in my blog: http://www.ahbonk.net/?p=922

And make sure you don't attend the same festival 15,000 times within the same month!

While looking at the photos, listen to Azumanga Daioh's Okinawa soundtrack for full effect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkjCKOtlObw. Saataaa Andaagiiii~

Or maybe Higurashi soundtrack for reverse effect :P

The closest I've come to seeing any festival pics from Japan are Strawberry Marshmallow and Lucky Star! I can appreciate their animatoin a lot better now, it looks almost identical @_@

You said it! I'm a big fan of slice-of-life myself, so I always try my best to attend all these festivals whenever I can. Though there's no Miu to make a racket xD
