Crayon Shin-chan Author Photo WRONG!
Wed 2009/09/23 12:24 JST

Just recently the author of the popular gag manga Crayon Shin-chan,Yoshito Usui, died from falling off a cliff. But I want to talk about right now is not his death, but how the world wide media used the wrong image of him.
The left side is what the media showed us, and on the right side is what Yoshito Usui really looks like.
RIP- Yoshito Usui

They don't even look a thing alike...! *facepalm*
Ha?!?! O.o
totally different~
So... who's the guy on the left? O_o
Inquiring minds want to know!
He is also an artist, but not a manga artist. I think he does normal Japanese art.
.....how did that happen..?
He must have thought why was his image used as Yoshito Usui. =.=;
stupid media....
Another pathetic example of lazy journalism at work here.
The guy who everyone thought died is an artist by the name of Kuroda Seitarou (黑田征太郎).
The mistake originated when he appeared together with Usui-sensei in a photo taken many years ago. Due to Usui-sensei being quite reclusive and constantly shies away from cameras, it became the first image that the lazy journos came upon when they decided to simply google for images of Usui-sensei, without even going further as to inquire with Usui-sensei's publishers on whether it's really him.
I knew something didn't feel right when I saw the media saying Kuroda's Usui, the real Usui looked more like the refined mangaka, while Kuroda seemed way too "wild" to be writing witty manga like Crayon Shin-chan. (No disrespect intended towards Kuroda-san in any way. )
I feel sorry for Kuroda-san as well, who would from now on probably have to go around and repeatedly (mis)quote Mark Twain: "Rumours of my death are greatly exaggerated."
