Getting ready for summer

Posted by REOS

After giving it much thought, I decided against getting a Corsair H70 closed loop water cooling system and got myself a Noctua NH-D14. I wasn't to savvy with the idea of having a device that has liquid in it inside my PC. While at Newegg, I also added 3 Noctua NF-P12s to my checkout cart.

My Zalman would be hidden away to one day reclaim its right to cool my AMD 965 BE once I begin my Intel build a year or 2 from now.

I've been reading a lot of good thing about Noctua so I took it upon myself to see if my PC would benefit from some Austrian-designed love.

A complete mess. I should have gotten a modular PSU and shorter sata cables

most well thought out packaging for a case fan I've ever seen. Then again, at $25 each, they better be.

Size comparison. The Noctua is one ungainly looking chunk of metal.

I didn't think my MoBo would be able to handle 1.24 kg. No more LED lighting w the Noctua.

Did you take the idle and load temps of the two heatsinks to see what the delta temp would be? The Noctua is supposed to be awesome AND quiet.

Still waiting for the thermal paste( Arctic Silver 5) to cure in a day or 2. I have noticed that my idle temps have gone down 2 to 3 degrees. from 33-34 to 30-31.

Watercooling kits prebuild have been bleed (tested for no leaks) and all u have to do is to refile every few months/year, Id highly suggest it as its dead quiet and cool, so its pretty save to buy and put it in, especially the H70 where its extremely easy to cool.

Currently using Arctic Freezer XTREME Rev. 2, but id love to upgrade to a custom swiftech twin loop water kit :D

I think the air-flow isn't going to be consistent. I'm not an expert, but this looks kinda overkill

It is overkill. That's why I bought it. LOL.
I'm using this PC as a test bed for an Intel build for possible overclocking.
The Noctua was on sale for a short time and I snatched it up before the deal goes off.
