Welcome to another episode of Subtokyo: Japanese Subculture Vlog!
Although this time it is pure Japanese culture!
This is episode 003.
Told you I'd do food. This segment is taken in Tsukishima, Tokyo. Streets of Monjyayaki shops. We'll go over tidbits about Monjya and Okonomiyaki and have live footage of actual cooking process of making both of them!
This is one delicious episode, check it out!!
Alex T is actually RurouniHeero here on Figure.fm, we've been hanging out and doing some cool stuff these last few days. We're even planning a trip to Shizuoka to see the Shizuoka Gundam soon! I'll keep you guys posted about that as well!!
Stay tuned and be sure to subscribe to Subtokyo!!

That chef is really skilled. His motions are so fluid. I bet it would've been pretty cool to watch in person!
I think it was multiple chefs XD they'd come by and pick up where another left- they're all skilled!
And yea, Eating this is one thing but watching this itself is like a whole show itself ^^
I just back home after dinner...and now I am hungry again...nice vid and look forward for your next ep.
A suggestion, may be on your next vid of food or place, if you could incl. a map or a direction will be wonderful =)
that's.... actually a really great idea XD thanks for the suggestion!
And sorry to make you go hungry again ^^;
Watching this again made me hungry too!! hehehe Can't wait for next episode of SubTokyo!! Great suggestion too! In fact, before going to Shizuoka, you should put directions and links to maps on how to get there too. But for the next food post, it would be great to have directions. I would go discover all those great secret food places!! :D
it looks delicious!!!
the only bad things is it seems there's pork and meat inside and i don't eat meat and pork so i wondered if somehow you can choose to put those ingredient inside or not?
The ones we ate were just one of the options out of SO MANY choices, including stuff like vegetarian or seafood.
(man I should of gone over this in the video) but like I said "Okonomi" means "what you want" meaning you can put whatever ingredient YOU WANT into these pancakes ^^ More than likely if there's stuff you can eat they'll take it out for ya :D
oh yeah okay i understand now!
yeah put what you want then i will give it a try at one of japanese restaurant in my city!
thanks for your hardwork ;D
okay that's it, tonite I gonna make okonomiyaki LOL
thanks for the share!
Mmmm! Yummy! Damn, wish I could try that! *stomach rumbles*
oh man that looks sooo good !
you should have post this earlier!!! I could use the video for my report about culture japan at school :P
