Otakon 2009
Otakon 2009 was held from July 17th to the 29th, and it was my firts anime convention ever! Thought I'd share some photos I took as well as an abridged version of what happened while I was there! To read the full thing and see more pics, head over to my blog, http://vixums.wordpress.com/

The line to get in was pretty big, luckily one of the people that I went with had preregistered, and despite THAT line being long, it was nothing compared to the one the next morning (the preregistered people had to line up the night before). Despite the preregistered people having their badges already, we had to wait in a semi line the next morning too, so there could be some sort of order! This photo was actually from the second day ( I think) where the people cosplaying as video game characters got to be "played by" the person holding the Super Nintendo controller! I thought it was really cute X3

More cosplayers seen from the elevator... it really was a sight, especially for me, since I had never seen someone cosplaying before!

Ah, the Dealers Room! I was in heaven. There were figures everywhere (I'm not sure how many were fake or authentic, but I know most of the nendos I saw were fake) I was a bit nervous having so many things to look at, but once I saw this booth, I felt more comfortable, since I had ordered from them before. I got my Haruhi Fraulein from them (10 dollars less than the asking price, I lvoed the people at the booth!)
And right next to it was a Yaoi doujinshi booth (to read about how I fared with THAT experience, check out the blog XD)

And the cosplayers!!! So many wonderful things happened at Otakon, but definitely the most memorable moments were getting to ask the cosplayers for photos. So many costumes that had so much effort in them, and everyone looked so happy to pose for you! Here we have a lovely Ahiru and Fakir from the anime Princess Tutu!

I'm a HUGE Yugioh fan, and these were the first Yugioh cosplayers I saw, my friend K pointed them out to me, I was SO happy >0< They were a great pair. I also heard from someone that there was a Pharaoh walking around, but I never got to see them. There were a bunch of Ishizus though (SO LOVELY <3)
SHOUTOUT TO THE YUGIOH ABRIDGED FANS <3 They'll get why I squeed so hard at these two!

Mmm, Seto, you lovely piece of mancandy. The girl cosplaying as him did an excellent job (I was blushing when I saw her XD) And yey for the matching Mokuba!! One day I want to be able to cosplay as someone, but not just yet. I would totally love to do a Yami, but I'm too tall for him!

There weren't as many Lucky Star cosplayers as I would've liked, but those I did see, I loved! These three were so cute in their cheerleading uniforms!

Haha, there were a bunch of these! Vocaloid families, I called them. Little kids and grownups all dressed as the family, and there were a lot of them just growing as people walked by and added to the pic! I love the twins, so I couldn't help myself with this picture!

THE KING. Those who enjoy Youtube poop (Don't be ashamed!) will recognize him! He was awesome. I asked him for a photo and he responded with, "MY BOY, I wonder what's for DINNER?" Ah, I loved those people that really got in to character, it was wonderful!

Shadow and Sonic! There were some people dressed in full suit costumes like these, and I was hot just wearing my tshirt and shorts, I wondered how these poor people must have felt!

And my loot from Otakon! Looking at it now, it's not as big as I thought it was when I first got it, I regret not getting figures, but I had a tight packing space so that would've been out of the question anyway. Did anyone else go to Otakon 2009? I didn't see many posts up about it!

i was there! <3 otakon, can't wait till next year!
its really great to see that you enjoyed it =). makes it worth the time people put into these conventions
Wow, cool cosplay event!
those are great pictures. I especially like the Ahiru/Fakir pair that you pointed out - I guess that Ahiru cosplayer does ballet too, the way she was happily en pointe in your photo.
I know, those tiny details make you appreciate the cosplayers more!
Nice cosplay (i like the kagamine family) "Kagamine daikozoku"
Oooh didn't know HLJ goes to Otakon... Nice find on the Lucky Star cosplayers. Even their height is accurate!
i actually got a sweet coupon from the HLJ booth that i need to use soon.
Oooh lucky! I wish they stop by Vancouver XD
You are soo luckyy >___<
nice photos!
congrats on your loot >_< especially Genshiken manga! <3 <3 I adore it :D
I was there too! And have already got my room reserved for next year.
D:!!!! No way, that's great! Truth is, me and my roommates totally want to reserve a room for next year since we loved it so much this year. Not a bad idea, our hotel wasn't too far from the convention center this year, but I would've loved for it to be at the Sheraton right next door. That would've been so amazing!
I was there, too. The Lucky Star badges were so popular that they actually ran out.
i was so sad to miss out on the kagamiku badge.
I didn't know they ran out of the lucky star badges! I'm so happy I got mine, but I noticed that a lot more guys were wearing the badge than girls. Oh wells, mine is hanging on my dresser <3
a friend of mine got one, oh well i got one with konata on it last year.
haha yes I was one of many that missed out on the luck star badges but I settled on a pretty cool Bamboo Blade badge instead.
@Vixums I'd love to get the hotel attached to the con but that usually runs about about 100 dollars more XD. So we decided on the Sheraton Baltimore city center which is just about a block away so its not much of a walk.
we stayed pretty close too, about 3 blocks away. AND our hotel room had a kitchen too.
Hahah You win this battle!
ahahhaha thats funny and cute! if i saw them outside my house i'd scream
