Portrait of a girl as an otaku

Posted by Takako [www]

(Everyone's doing intro posts again - here is my contribution to the mix. :D)

Name: PJ, but I'm a female PJ.
On dc.com and figure.fm, I go by "Takako". Elsewhere, I was known as "NineMoons".

Age: almost 27

Hobbies: blogging, reading, cooking, playing MMORPGs (specifically Atlantica Online)

Favorite Series:
anime: Cowboy Bebop, Shin Kidousenki Gundam Wing, Eureka Seven, Serial Experiments Lain, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Shoukoushi Cedie
Western: Firefly, Star Trek Voyager, Battlestar Galactica, House MD, Numb3rs
anything else: 世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ (Sekai no Chūshin de, Ai o Sakebu), Meteor Garden

Favorite Games: Atlantica Online, Tetris, Granado Espada, Gunbound, Neverwinter Nights 1

Favorite Model: I only ever built one, a 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero Custom. So I guess that's my favorite.

Favorite Figure: Don't have any. Would like a Saber Alter, or a Motoko Kusanagi.

Currently Watching: Planning to get into Nanoha; want to rewatch Gundam Wing

Currently reading:
manga: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
books: The Joy of Cooking, How to be a Domestic Goddess, The Settlement Cookbook. I asked for Mastering the Art of French Cooking for a birthday present.

Cosplay: I'm making slow but steady plans towards my first cosplay - I want to go as Phoenix Wright. :) Yes, gel in my hair and all, and I know it'll be hard to wash all the gunk out after. A friend has offered to make me an Axis Powers Hetalia costume - I want to be Hungary, if she'd be so kind. I can supply my own frying pan. :)

Portrait of a girl as an otaku

I borrowed a cosplaying friend's BFS for this fun shot. Taken September 2007 at the launch of Granado Espada in the Philippines.

At the same Granado Espada launch event, I borrowed another buddy's twin pistols just for kicks. Sorry for the frown - it's not a gunslinger's face, I know.

That's me second from left. I was part of a team that won a machinima competition - that's us receiving the prize money.

A Singaporean friend paid us a visit, and we went out to dinner with her.

In Granado Espada we call guilds "factions" - here is Covenant, a faction I belonged to, posing for a picture with our banner.

That is one big sword o.O

If you haven't checked out any of the more recent HG 1/144 kits by Bandai, they've really improved since the Wing days. Some say that the 1/144 kits are getting to be more and more like the MG series every kit. So much posability for such a small price! If you plan on attempting MG (I don't recommend doing so until after you have lots of experience with HG kits) you may want to try the MG RX-87 Gundam ver 2.0.

If you're thinking about a Saber Alter, Alter's Saber Alter Maid, which is coming out soon, looks like a winner! Here's a link from hobby channel via wcloudxkumo ^^ http://hobby-channel.net/genteidou-items/8206-8206.html (She even comes with a mini Maid Saber too!)

They don't have a Saber Alter ver. yet, but you may also want to consider a Saber figma as well. Shirou and Saber casual clothes ver. are due out soon =D

      "That is one big sword"
The owner of the sword is a little shorter than me - on her it really WAS a BFS. Photogs had a problem fitting the entire length of the thing into any pics from that event.

I quite appreciate the recommendations - I'll save up forthwith. :)

No problem ^^ I'm really tempted myself to get the Alter Saber Alter Maid to go with my own Alter Maid Saber (who is gorgeous btw ;) but I've decided to keep my dedication to figmas since PVC figures can get pretty pricey ^^

The cash prize was USD1200 - we divided it among the three of us team members, and then also among the people who had helped us complete the winning machinima entry. I think we all wound up getting something like USD300 each after all the divvying up was done. :)

Nice profile! And now I kinda want to do my own too as well. (and I noticed that all those who posted profiles recently are girls XD)
And that's quite a lot of prize money... what did you do with your share? XD
As for Phoenix Wright, maybe you can buy yourself a black wig and style it so you won't have to go through the trouble with your hair? SM department stores have pretty affordable wigs, and you won't have a problem since Phoenix's hair is black XD

I contributed most of my share of the prize money toward a better home computer, and held back some for books and groceries. :) very mundane, I know.

the wig suggestion is promising - I'll look into it. I just hope my hair will cooperate enough when I actually wear the thing. (yes, I really have problems with my hair - some days it's all I can do not to get into an argument with it XD)

        Well, since you have short hair, it can be pretty easy :D just buy a stocking cap and tuck your hair in before you wear it. :) Stocking caps are also available in SM where they sell the wigs. Wigs tend to be itchy when you wear them though, but putting on some hairspray before putting on the wig helps lessen the itch (for me anyway). I share the same sentiments with my own hair. It keeps messing up bad >>;
