Goofing Off With Wigs

Posted by Poofiemus [www]

The other day, I convinced Agatha to put on the two alternate wigs that she shipped with from her previous owner, and was able to sneak a few pictures. Seeing Balldylox's Rei and Mai having fun with their wigs, she agreed to let me post the results. ^_^

Goofing Off With Wigs

Hey, Agatha! Oh, are you helping me with Aebelskiver?

"Is that what we're calling this clone of Pancake?"

MmmmmmmmmmYUP.

"Well, then yes, I am. I'm glad I get a chance to work on a construct, and I'm glad to give something to Batrastard in return for making me these glasses, but why did he have to pick ANOTHER dragon?"

Mouseover = load notes.
Goofing Off With Wigs

Because dragons are AWESOME, that's why. Say, you've been doing that for a while. Want to take a break and try on some other wigs?

"Why on-- Ah, well, fine, I'll humor you. You run off and get them, I need to finish this thread off first."

YAY! *scampers off*

Mouseover = load notes.
Goofing Off With Wigs

*Shuffle shuffle tug PLUNK*

Ppppffft! You're a sheepdog!

"AHEM. I can't see a THING in this!"

Alright, alright, I'll go get a hairclip. . .

Mouseover = load notes.
Goofing Off With Wigs

There, that better?

"Much. How does it look?"

Pretty good actually, despite it being too big. Maybe I should make you a red sequined sheath dress so you can cosplay Jessica Rabbit.

Mouseover = load notes.
Goofing Off With Wigs

"A WHAT now? And for a rabbit? No. Absolutely not! I'll have to make a death ray and use it on you if you do."

Okay, so I won't then. But it does look quite nice.

"Hm, I suppose I could be a redhead for a while if you trimmed the bangs."

I'll put it on the project list! NEXT!

Mouseover = load notes.
Goofing Off With Wigs

"What the hell is this?"

That's the other wig.

". . .it's too big. And it's BLUE."

Yes, yes it is.

"No. Just. . . No."

*tosses wig at my feet and stomps off*

Mouseover = load notes.
Goofing Off With Wigs

. . . you REALLY didn't like that blue wig, did you?

"No. The red one would be okay with some work, but I do NOT want to run around looking like a . . . I don't even know what I'd be looking like, but I do know I don't want to look like it. Now stop bothering me, I have work to do!"

    It was very nice of Agatha to humor with the wearing the other wigs, but I have to agree with her that blue is just not her color.

        SHHHH! LOL!

        She's such a serious gal, isn't she? Not like my cheerful and inquisitive Musume.

        On a side note: Making a DD-Dy "dress dummy" by making a mold of Maiya's body in silicone rubber, and then casting it in resin. Got the back half of the mold setting up, and will pour the front half in a few days..

          She actually can be pretty inquisitive, especially when she finds a project to really geek out over, but cheerfulness isn't something she indulges in very often. Especially when she's geeking out over something--there's a reason when she does so she's said to be "In the madness place." You might get to see it when she gets around to making that death ray she's always threatening me with.

          Oh, a custom dress form? Great idea! I know some people on DoA have done so using duct tape and cotton balls, though it sounds like your version will be nicer. It'd be kind of nice to have something like that, so I don't have to twist Agatha's arm behind her back while I work on clothes for her. XD

            In Maiya's case, it's more curiosity about everything.. she's a new soul after all.. ^_^

            If the mold turns out ok, I may be able to make several from it.. I was thinking of offering up a few for sale if it works out.. I'm sending it to my sister who's making a Goth dress in red velvet and silk with black lace trim.

              Whereas Agatha is (somewhat loosely) based on the protagonist of the webcomic Girl Genius, so picking up off what's happened there she's been through all kinds of crazy crap. I'm hoping my next doll (whenever that happens) can be a perkier, "younger" sort of personality, partially because it'd be cute and partly because watching her play off Agatha would be hilarious. In fact, I'd love it if my next one ends up like Pinkie Pie in FiM: seeing fun in things that have absolutely no reason to be fun. XD

              Oh, that dress sounds lovely! I still need to alter the green Victorian dress I got from Balldylox to fit Agatha better, and beyond that I'm on a quest for a forest green herringbone so I can make her first outfit from the comic. Trouble is, so far all I've found is either olive, or intended for upholstery. >.<

                Yeah, that sounds like it would work! So you can have lace without having a lacy poofball. XD Looking forward to seeing the dress form.

                That IS pretty prompt. What was the shipping cost though? For instance, I know Luts stuff usually arrives pretty quick once it ships, but it would have been 22USD shipping for ONE pair of shoes I wanted. Need to find a group order on DoA I think.

                Heheheheheh. . . I WARNED you. =P

              Oooh, lovely! You'll have to be careful with lace on the bodice, since DDDys are so busty and too many frills can look a little silly on them, but it should come out quite nice. And damn it, that song is far too catchy for its own good! >.<

              Yes, you SHOULD read it, though you might want to wait for the weekend, since the archive is large and will probably suck you in with its awesome, so you don't want to be missing anything too important when you find yourself reading it for hours. =P http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/

                I think my sister was going to do a corset sort of front with lace edges..
                She has close ups of the character for reference.
                Poured the top half of the mold tonight. Should be ready to open up in a few days (I hope.) Then I can put Maiya back together.
                On yet another note: The Volks Dollfie carry bag, "C" stand, and underwear set came in today from Dollfie World. Hong Kong to Ottawa in less than a week.. O.o

                The mold is sort of done. I need to fill some air bubbles and build up a section around the neck so it won't leak when I pour the resin, but it looks good so far. Maiya is now back together and happy with her new blue shimipan... ^_^ She's a lot less wobbly on the new stand, too.

                I got the warning *after* I started reading it. Xp.
                I always liked Phill Phoglio's work. Wonder if it would be possible to sculpt a Dollfie head that looked like Agatha? (based on his artwork)

    LOL! Agatha is about as blunt as you are! XD

    I have to agree with her tho, that blue wig didn't do much for me on her. Now the red one.... that could be great with a slight trim to the front. And I personally think the Jessica Rabbit cosplay idea ROCKS! Show her the character and see what she thinks! She may go for it....

    A nice fun post. I am glad you decided to do it after seeing my two girls. I'm flattered you'd give me mention! =3

      Heh, we have to be both equally blunt to survive each other. It's no wonder that her previous owner didn't really bond with her I think. XD

      Yeah, the color is too cool toned to go with her faceup, I think, and the straight bangs just eat her eyebrows. The red one would actually need more than just a trim in the front; it also needs darts in the back to fit well, since it's too big. I think the only way I can have ANY hope of getting her to cosplay Jessica Rabbit is for Halloween, and that's at a stretch even if I hit her with the "dressing like a whore when you can get away with it on Halloween is liberating" argument from Misfile. XD Still, it WOULD be pretty awesome. Maybe I can get her wasted. Or really caffeinated. Or both.

      Of COURSE I gave you a mention! That WAS the inspiration after all!

      The wig itself is okay (other than being HUGE--I pulled it down over her ears and it STILL bowed and showed the wefts in the back), but I agree with her that it's not really Agatha's thing. Part of me wants to hang on to it in case a future adoption looks better in it, but another part of me thinks it'd be better off re-homed.

          Honestly, I haven't the slightest idea. ^^; The woman who sold Agatha to me threw those two wigs in with Agatha's main wig, and said she'd gotten them off eBay, though she didn't say where. They were supposed to be 8-9 wigs like all DD wigs, but I suspect they were mislabeled 9-10's. They don't really have tags either, save for a "made in china" label.

          Still, better too big than too small. In this case, when I get some time (ha, like that'll happen) I'd like to try taking some tucks in the red wig to try to make it fit better. I couldn't do that if it were too small!

          Apparently that's going to be the case; she cleared customs early this morning. All other things that I've gotten from Japan were shipped by SAL rather than DHL, so the fact that she's only taking days to get here instead of two weeks is messing with me. XD It's okay if it turns out funky, and it's fine that I may be waiting a bit. :) The first jacket I made for Agatha is pretty funny in comparison to the corset on her Halloween costume. As for design, for Nanoha I'm not too picky, but my Nanoha seems to be a sucker for plaid, so plaid trim on it would be awesome.

              Heheh, thanks! I can't wait to finally see her in person either. ^_^ Yeah, I think it's also sometimes called tartan; it's that repeated grid pattern of perpendicular stripes, as Agatha would probably describe it. XD Trim usually refers to when there's a different material along the hem than on the rest of the outfit. For instance, that purple jacket of Agatha's has gold trim. Oh, that sounds adorable! Stars suit Nanoha quite well, actually.
