Any Fans Of Grasshopper Manufacture Fans In The House That Can Draw?

Posted by FortNinety [www]

First off, a bit about myself: I'm a New York City based game designer and journalist, though I spend most of my time involved in the later. My stuff has appeared all over the place... including EGM, Giant Robot, Nickelodeon Magazine, Gamasutra, GameSetWatch, and Tiny Cartridge. My main area of interest, and what I end up writing about the most is game culture. Meaning art, music, and film that are inspired by gaming... translation: I'm a big fan of fan art, chiptunes, and the like.

I'm also heavy into retro gaming, stuff from Japan... shumps and giant robots. Hence what I come here so often! I'm also super into anime, toys, models, and especially Asian cinema. All of which I write about extensively on my site. I encourage everyone to stop by http://www.fort90.com/journal/ and look around; I'm confident there's tons of stuff that many around here will find of interest (though on a related note, I often use this place as a source for goodness). Though there's one thing in particular I wanted to talk about...

Long story short, I'm running a fan art contest. Anyone here a fan of Grasshopper Manufacture? They're the makers of No More Heroes, Killer 7, Flower Sun Rain, and the upcoming Shadow of the Damned, among numerous other titles. Anyhow I'm looking for an illustration of one of many sexy ladies that has starred in any of the aforementioned games. The winning entry will appear on the printed page; I self-publish a video game zine and I need someone for my next issue. Each one thus far has had a centerfold featuring a favorite gaming lass of mine... past subjects have included Claire Redfield, Samus Aran and Mona (from WarioWare)... and I want to continue the tradition, yet do something different.

Did I also mention the contest is being officially sponsored by Grasshopper Manufacture? Hence why I am able to offer the following awesome prizes in the winning artist! Much of which will make any diehard Grasshopper fan's head spin...

[EDIT: Sorry, but how in the heck do you insert images in the body of the post? The blogging interface here is... sorry... completely non-sensical. Seriously, no HTML options, I have to use message board tags and the such? oy vey]

1. Both Sets Of No More Heroes Erotic Portrait Postcards
When NMH 1 was rereleased for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan, both platforms had pre-order bonuses; two entirely different sets of postcards depicting the women in the game, and done by some of the hottest artists in Japan. Here we have both, still in their original shrink-wrap.

2. No More Heroes For Xbox 360 & PS3 Guidebook
In addition to giving you a detailed guide to everything there is to see and do in Santa Destroy, this available only in Japan volume tons of behind the scenes material.

3. No More Heroes 2 Erotica Comic
When the NMH2 was finally released in Japan, those who pre-ordered were able to snag an ultra limited edition comic that told various sexy tales featuring assorted characters from the universe, again featuring some of the hottest talents Grasshopper could snag.

4. Killer 7 Art Book, Autographed By Suda 51 & Various Staff
In addition to an absolutely stunning tome that chronicles their breakthrough title, which for many is what made the world take notice of Grasshopper, it's been autographed by the various folks that created the game. Including Goichi Suda, aka Suda 51, himself. (the dude who runs the Grasshopper Manufacture empire).

5. Bizarre Jelly 5 Shirt
This pre-order incentive for NMH2 in Australia (maybe other places in the world as well, not certain) is extremely rare. In fact, I was given the very last one that they had in the Grasshopper office! The one you'll be getting is brand new, still in plastic. No real size designation, so it's meant to be one-size fits all, though it's from Japan, where stuff tends to be snugger.

6. No More Heroes: Hellride Shirt
Yet another tee to make you look like Travis Touchdown! Much like the BJ5 shirt, this shirt was never released in America, and was only available via Grasshopper’s online style shop (and was a limited edition deal as well). The size is large, and as you can see from above, it's actually closer to American large than what you might expect from Japan...

7. Flower, Sun, Rain Shirt
Easily the most obscure and hardcore item of the entire pot, it's a shirt based upon my personal top game of the year 2009! Not sure what else to say, other than it too exceptionally rare and is definitely Japanese scaled large in size.

8. Killer 7 Shirt By Attract Mode & Cory Schmitz
This might be a good time to mention that I'm the East Coast Representative of Attract Mode, the web's premier online video game style shop. Which unfortunately is under reconstruction. Till then, here's a great chance to snag one of the hottest items we've had in recent memory; it’s standard American sized extra large.

... Sounds good? Here's the thing; the deadline is REAL soon. We're talking weeks away. As in exactly three! For more information, such as all the technical info (like desired size and file format), simply refer to http://www.fort90.com/journal/?p=837

And if anyone has anyone question, pass them along to matt@fort90.com, or simply leave a comment!
