The other day my wife baked melon pans.
Shana noticed immediately and looked overly excited.
This certainly must be love!
Then we were woken up by some strange sounds from the kitchen at night.
We decided to see what all the noise was about.
Suddenly the lights went off.
It took some time to fix the lights.
Hey, where's the pan?! And where's Shana?
Was that all a dream?

Yup. As soon as the smell starts to come out of the kitchen, nekomimis start to appear from corners and other hideouts. ;)

Nice! care to share the recipe used for mellonpan? I'm always looking for ways to improve on the recipe I use. I've even been known to make giant ones every so often. :)
For Bun dough:
bread flour: 390 gr
salt: 1 tea spoon.
sugar: 4.5 table spoons.
dry yeast: 2 teaspoons.
milk (room temperature): 210 ml
egg: 1 (medium size)
butter (room temperature): 60 gr.
Coating (cookie) dough:
butter: 100 gr
sugar: 100gr.
egg: 1 (medium size)
vanilla and rum essence (if you have)
cake flour: 200-240 gr.
baking powder: 0.5 teaspoon.
Topping:
Granulated sugar and egg whites.
Make the bun dough (hopefully you know how). While it is raising. (divide into 12-16 parts when ready)
Make the cookie dough:
Cream the butter. Add sugar and whisk until fluffy. Add egg in several times and whisk. Add the flour and baking powder at the end and fold until incorporated.
Divide cooking dough into 12-16 equal portions and shape each into a ball. Put into a fridge for 30 minutes.
Roll the cookie dough into circle about 10cm in diameter.
Put a piece of bun dough on rolled cookie dough.
Coat the dough with cookie dough leaving the bottom.
Coat with egg whites and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Cut shallow lines across the top.
Let rise in oven for around 30 minutes at 40C (or until doubled in size).
Bake at 338F (170C) for 15-20 minutes (depends on the oven).
Tastes best when fresh. ;)
Reading the recipe makes me more interested. They actually look good based on what they are made of.
That's how it usually works. Do anybody know anything to taste better when it gets older? (no, alcohol is not an option here since you don't "bake" alcohol)

Generally a lot of dishes that depend on something being properly soaked in some liquid gets better with time as the soaking improves.

I've taken to using a breadmaker to do kneed the dough. It works pretty well for most recipes and saves some elbow grease. :)
Yes, breadmaker is great thing. We also have one of course.
In fact in US breadmaker is a "must have" thing if you actually like to eat real bread.
They charge outrageous prices for good bread (you know, one made without High Fructose Corn Syrup) only available in "organic stores". We were quite shocked by the fact when we moved here.
Similar stuff happens with soft drinks. Most of drinks made in US are undrinkable, so we are forced to buy Chinese and Japanese imports.
On the other hand perhaps the fact that I do not drink any Pepsi now makes me healthier (used to consume upwards from 2 liters per day).

Quite possible if it can be set to 170°C for 15-20 minutes. I would recommend using a real oven though because then you can fill it and get a whole lot more ^^
Actually I believe the name MelonPan has nothing to do with melon filling itself, just due to resemblance to melon. You better get that eye checked. It look like you have a problem controlling both eyes at the same time to make them watch the same thing (this is a horrible condition btw).

Sadly, I can't cook. And second, our oven is filled with pans and pots instead of using for what it is...

Then it's about time you learn how to do so. The alternative is a life of unhealthy and expensive fast food. I was about to say you would make a lousy wife if you can't cook but then I realised I don't know which gender you are. You aren't that flawless though :P
Not a wise idea. I know somebody who put a mobile phone charger on the stove (basically used it as a table). While it was there somebody else leaned against the stove and turned on the plate with the mobile phone. Naturally it had to be max heat. Didn't smell that good when I arrived a moment later.
