Revoltech Series No.085 Grendizer

Posted by kal199 [www]

So here it is, the so hard to find in stock figure in reasonable price; which is the Revoltech Series No. 085 Grendizer from Kaiyodo. I was looking every where to get this one, looked in Hobby Search, Hobby Link Japan, Otacute, and a lot more other sites; although it was available in amazon.com and you could happily get it for about $80, but that didn’t felt good for me because I know it’s worth around $20 – $30. Anyhow, I ran out of choices so I decided to get it from amazon and in that time I was checking out some figures in Otacute.com and I just thought to give it a shot and search for Grendizer while I’m there and BOOM! it’s there, In Stock in few quantity for $28. Spontaneously I cleared it from my amazon’s cart and purchased it from otacute and here it is.
Check out the post in my blog for few more photos.

yeah, was widely known as Goldorak in European version "French and Italian", and Grendizer in Japan and Middle East and it is one of my best Mecha series ever ^^

Wow...you're lucky to have a mom like that! Even though my parents accept my hobby, whenever I mention anything about figures or anime, they just cut me off saying "And how about your studies?"

XD Well, I don't know but maybe when you finish your studies they'll see your hobby differently. I'm 27 years old now, and she was the one who showed me anime since she was watching them also. UFO Robot Grendizer (Goldorak), Captain Herlock (Albator), Mighty Atom (Astro Boy) and many other. My personnel favorite when I was a kid was probably Transformers G1 thought, but I watched more anime than American cartoons that's for sure.

          Yeah...
I have a friend who likes anime...we went to a convention not long ago with our moms, and when we passed a Fullmetal Alchemist-related booth, my friend's mom stopped and said "Hey look it's Fullmetal Alchemist! Is it the first version or Brotherhood?" I was like 0_0 . My mom caught up to us and said "Who's that girl with the braided ponytail and that big robot?"
          ( TT^TT )

haha! well, I guess I agree with @Rurouni Heeero once you finish your studies and get a career they'll will see your hobby differently, I'd cry too if that Fullmetal Alchemist incident happened to me though T_T

lol...also, my mom is pretty loud at times so people just laughed behind my mom and me after she said that...
But yeah, I think that first of all, when I'm done w/ studies I can get my own bank account and can FINALLY pre-order the figmas that I want and other items, and they'll just have to endure my anime-geekiness whenever I speak to them about my hobby!
Though... after "And your studies," they might find a new thing: "And your rent?"

actually it's just a DIY set, I got a black wooden desk, and as for the background I got a piece of carton covered with a black cloth, BUT, that won't give you the black you see in those pics, so just a simple editing to darken or enhancing the colors will do the trick, I used iPhoto for those. using different kind and different colors of lightening will add more effects! thanks and good luck ^^

Sigh, much as I love Grendizer, I found his Revoltech to be a bit lacking. After getting some nice effect parts from the earlier releases like the Getters, he was kinda bland. Don't get me wrong, I bought him, and enjoyed playing with him, but they could have at least given him some "Space Thunder" effects parts, or effect parts for his "Screw Crusher Punch".

Congrats on your find though. I can imagine it's ridiculously hard to find shops there that carry Japanese toys, at reasonable prices even.

a bit lacking? yes he is! plus I had a hard time with his articulation and it isn't detailed that much. I just imagined if Space Thunder was included... that would be AWESOME!! and I'd love to see him piloting his Spazer too! But anyhow, for me, he makes me smile when ever I see him standing in my closet, remembering my childhood days is a bless by itself, and knowing that they still thinking about manufacturing him is a satisfying pleasure.
      Thanks you ^^

Hmm, your first Revoltech I take it? A little practice, and you'll get the hang of it. Try looking for the other Go Nagai robot Revoltechs . They're worth getting (heck most of the Revoltech line-up are), especially the Getter Robo Go. Plenty of accessories, and a mean sword to boot.

        Cheers!

          sort of my first, I got 2 Revoltech Evas (Eva-01 and Eva-02) and 1 Rei Ayanami though, which I will post about them later. And yeah most of Revoltech line-up are worth getting, I was going crazy looking at all of their stuff, you know I was getting some tools for my Gunpla then I ended up buying those 2 Evas ^^;

The Evas are nice, though I hope you got the newer ones. Those have excellent articulation. And nice gimmicks too. Anyway, enjoy your purchases! They'll last you quite a while.

      Glad you like them ^^
yeah well, some stuff are really rare now and tremendously hard to find, so Amazon is always a last resort for me, but I guess I was so lucky on this find in particular!
