All the HDR I made this year in Japan
こんにちはみなさん! I wanted to share these attempts at HDR with you all. They were all shot in RAW using a Lumix LX3 with three different exposure shot of +2/0/-2 and processed using Photomatix Pro 4.0.
I like HDR but try not to go on the painterly or over processed side of it. Please feel free to share your thoughts and pass on any tips if you want, it would really help!
I hope you enjoy them! And sorry if the same subject tends to repeat itself as I tried different settings and tried different effects.

This was before taking off to New Ark to catch my main flight to Japan. Of course, behind windows there's always some reflection if you don't have a polarized filter or something to block those reflections...

The view from my balcony in Shin-ôkubo.

From the Mori tower observatory.

Again, one of the views you can get from the Mori tower observatory. It was actually my birthday the day I went, and I was with amazing company...

Mount Fuji as I saw it for the first time in 4 years of travel to Japan!! XD

I cropped and removed noise on this one. It's my favorite of the bunch.

Shinjuku skyscrapers district from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (or TOCHO)

I really like how this one turned out.

Zoomed a bit to get a better view. From the TOCHO building, one side you can get from one of the tower observatory.

Meiji Jingu

In Meiji Jingu walking under the huge cover of trees. Magic and beautiful place.

And last but not the least, the RX-78-2 Gundam life size statue on the last weekend of the Shizuoka hobby fair. Sadly, the site closed at 6PM, which was too early to get nice evening or night views, and also, they didn't do the light and sound shows anymore. Actually, if we had stayed till the next day, they did a 7 minutes fully lighted and steam with music and all for the last time before disassembling it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uewr2AMlHHY&feature=related

Looks like it's either Computer Generated or painted if I wouldn't know it's an actual picture
Shots like you made them never bore me. I got a entire folder dedicated to pictures like this and I added a few of yours to that collection :D
WOW Thanks!! I also have a folder full of HDR and most of them are from Japan. Flickr is an amazing place to find great pictures!
Oh, btw, if you want I can send you higher resolution shots of the ones you like. Just let me know!!
Thanks but these version are great enough as it is. =) I keep these pictures around for when I have one of my lesser days. I then put on the slideshow and feeling much better afterwards :)
Very nice pictures! I always loved HDR photos. Keep up the good work mate.
Love this shot!
I stood here looking up at TOCHO. Next time, I want to see it from this view myself!
Really beautifully done HDR images. Hope to see more in the future.
Thanks! I'll try to do some around my town and post them. Of course, next time I go to Japan I'll take thousands of pics and do many HDR! XD
Great photos. The Mount Fuji photos with the red sky remind me abit of dogma.
Thanks! It was an amazing sight to behold that evening. To be able to see Mt. Fuji from Tokyo is really something!
Incredible pictures! Thank you so much for posting these.. ^^ I can't wait to go back someday to actually stay there for a few years.
Thank you!! Think positively and try hard to attain your goals! If it's really what you want, you will go back to Japan! がんばて!(good luck/do your best!)
Wow! Alsok have a Gundam for secure your house!
すごいじゃないか?! XD Alsok must feel very safe with this one protecting them!
wow, lovely shots~ the first few are my favourites
Thanks! Glad you liked them!
Incredible pics dude!! I gotta get some for my wallpaper. Are they available to download?
I could send them via e-mail, or in a zip file on sendspace, or something else if you wanna let me know. You choose! :D
Cool. My desktop resolution is 1680 X 1050 so as long as they are that size at least it will be great. I guess a link to sendspace would be the best. Thanks.
My desktop resolution is also 1680x1050 but I use the "fit" option on WIn7, which looks better IMO than stretch or cropped. But I'll let you do as you please and put them in original resolution in the zip file. Enjoy! Here you go! http://www.sendspace.com/file/z4it5b
それじゃあ!
Thanks. Downloading it now. Can't wait to see what they look like on a big monitor. My little 10 inch netbook just isn't the same.
Hey no prob! Numeric photos turn out differently depending on the screens they're on, like they show quite nicely on my small 15" laptop screen, brighter than on my 21". Well, no matter what screen they're on, Japan pictures always look nice to me! XD
I need this pic now.
I have them on my flickr page but they are not full resolution since I don't have a pro account yet. I check for an answer for my reply and send them to you after.
Replied above. Thanks again
If you can get this close to the glass window, you can avoid these reflections even without using a polarized filter. But the biggest problem one could face is if the window was not clean enough. In your case, the window is very clean... =)
What are these patches?
I like the contrast on the foreground in this one
Reflections... Maybe you can heal this in Photoshop
This one is more painterly than the others as the halo effect is starting to show. But I'm not syaing it's bad. As a matter of fact I like this picture.
By the way, which HDR siftware did you use? Photomatix?
What are these? You have them in some shots of this view and some times not...
