Shana.. Bootleg or not?

Posted by shawnical [www]

I just bought this Red Shana today off a seller at a certain forum. But i'm having doubts whether this is a real nendoroid or not. The first thing when i open the box, the head fell off. And the face seems to be rougher than the nendoroids i have, further more the box doesn't have the sticker. So i'm kinda worried and need some experts advice here >.<

its a bit hard to tell from the picture because its little blurry and out of focus. However, you should try to compare her to the link below:

    I hope that helps.

hmmm she looked legit to me but i'm doubtful about the base. sometimes, the good indicator for a bootleg is the base.

maybe this can help you http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/&search=item%3A1536+category%3A3

hard to say, best information would be from someone that has the exact one and still have the box to confirm. Some legit stuff didn't come with stickers.

I have kept all my boxes and some don't have stickers (or i can't see them) but all nendoroids were purchased from HLJ.com I only have one bootleg and i purposely purchased it from a local store because i was planning to modify it.

All the best to find you're answer.

    best information i can give you are;
    - is it glossy?
    - neck joint off colour from actual skin tone?

It's matte and the neck joint does match the colour of the skin. Thanks ^^

I guess i'll retake the photo with a macro

I'm pretty sure that's authentic, the hair color is identical to GSC promo pics based from the gradient effect. Details-wise, the ribbon and buttons are sharp but it would be great if you have the accessories inspected.

I'd suggest a photo with a definitely legit nendo side by side, as bootlegs usually have a VERY different skin tone.

I'd say it is probably legit.

That looks pretty legit, if that were a bootleg, it'd have to be one of the best bootlegs I've seen.

The nendoroid itself looks pretty legit as the hair isn't glossy or shiny and you've confirmed the base has the copyright logo and not just the "Made In China" text which is the same thing my base has as I also have this nendoroid. The only things noticeable are the back of the hair which appears to have some excess blobs or PVC at the bottom which mine doesn't have as it looks all smooth. I guess yours might just be one of those batches that unfortunately has a small defect from the manufacturing process but was passable enough to be sold to the public.

The packaging of your box only appears to be missing the "ASCII Mediaworks" sticker that should be above the "47a" number on the front. My box has that sticker which you can check out below:

Don't know why yours doesn't have it though, either the seller removed it or it fell off after being handled frequently or it was from a rejected batch which would explain why it has no sticker. Overall, I'd say it's a legit nendo which came from a rejected batch when it came to quality inspection by GSC (the excess blobs on the back of the hair) but probably someone still found it good enough to be sold publicly.

Looks real to me, and the base's writing looks legit too.

    The fake looks totally disfigured.

Legit, looks good nothing major problem on the nendo. Bootlegs i have seen have upside down background of Nendoroid(The inside of the box where it has a lot of nendoroid).

Check the base. If it says,"MADE IN CHINA." Then it's fake. Nendoroids are made in Japan.

    It's not a bootleg.
She doesn't have the "cheap PVC" look at all...don't worry about Nendoroids not having stickers, my Light Yagami Nendoroid and Churuya Nendoroid didn't have any when I got them (both are legit). Also, looking at her base, I could tell she isn't a fake, bootlegs have just "MADE IN CHINA" on it and in the pic it looks like there are many more characters written which is normal for legit nendos.

Yeah, if it says simply "MADE IN CHINA" then it's a bootleg. Looks like all the copyright text is there.

Is your Nendo very loose, as in those joints drop off easily with just slight shaking of the nendo~
& Try smelling your nendo, if it has those smelly lousy plastic smell (I have absolute no idea how to describe it, but it's smelly & rather strong), than it should be a fake. Check the printing on your nendo box too, if they are clear & sharp images, it should be fine. Check whether the logos are distorted.
It looks pretty authentic to me~
