Alter 1/8 Dizzy (unboxing)

Posted by Tsukino

I pre-ordered this almost as soon as it was available a few months ago and have been looking forward to this day since. Dizzy was my main back when I played GGXX and I really like her character still.

I was so excited I had to take a ton of pictures and post them even though someone else beat me to the first post with some excellent shots of their own.

My camera's AF is fixed, but I forgot to iron my white curtain so it looks less like a background and more like...a sheet.

Biggest box I've ever seen come from AmiAmi. I had a lot of trouble with the Postal Service today, but I'm glad I didn't have to carry it home on my bicycle like I planned. Because it would have been impossible.

It's big because I also ordered the BEACH QUEENS Nanoha figure. I think it will be in a loot post with not so many photos from every angle as Dizzy.

Unique box shape hides Necro and Undine parts.

I obviously need better lighting to take pictures of shiny boxes.

Dizzy comes in only four pieces: herself, Necro, Undine, and the stand.

These little wires are so hard for me to get off the packaging. I'm sure they help hold the clamshell together and all, but they're a thorn in my side...

...so it's good Dizzy's packaging came with two then.

After several minutes taking those wires out, these extremely complex instructions for assembly were just too much for me.

I like the stand design because the two-tone deal fits Dizzy well, but I'm not a fan of words on stands.

Here she is without her wings. Looks OK from the front.

Not so much from the back. I kind of wish she came with alternate "idle" wings, but that would pretty much just be the difference between almost perfect and perfect here.

Much better.

Assembly complete! She's 1/8 scale but her wings make her much larger than many other figures of the same scale.

Her face is excellent. I saw someone commented once that her expression looks good from multiple angles, but conveys different emotions, and I agree.

Undine!

It's kind of like getting three figures in one.

This is my favorite angle for her face I think.

All the times I played the games as Dizzy, I sort of assumed she had a bikini-like thing going from the front to the back, rather than...whatever's going on here.

It's distracting you from the Undine service just to the left.

I agree. "Plugs" would have made her PERFECT!

Best Figure Awards 2011 already found its first nominee. The figure and packaging is fantastic.

The packaging isn't too incredibly impressive, but Dizzy herself sure is amazing.

I think one of the things that makes Alter the best is their use of paints. It's most noticeable on things like K-ON! guitars or various bladed weaponry, but even here you can see details like her shiny leathery tail, or the very rough metallic-looking buttons on her outfit.

Very nice collection! I would get some kind of glass casing for those babies if I were you.

I sure would like to, especially for things like Dizzy here who would be extremely difficult to dust. Unfortunately I live in a very small space, glass cabinets aren't generally cheap, and there's no IKEA in Vegas.

Maybe some day I'll take a trip to LA just to pick up some shelving from their IKEA.

Really nice pictures. I like how you took photos from different angles of her face - I didn't even know that she could have syo many different expressions just depending on the angle! ^^

Your best bet is probably to keep looking on Mandarake's site to see if she shows up at one of their locations. Most figures do, and for not too much more than their original price, although she sold out fast so there may be more people looking to make a profit.
