Hotel adventures
It was quite an interesting day so let me tell you what I've learned about making hotel arrangements when in Japan. Do everything ahead of time. I had one day that I did not schedule ahead of time because I wanted to try a capsule hotel. Turns out the place has closed and I had to default to my back up place, Aizuya Inn. Worked out great actually as they have improved since the last time I was there and they dropped their prices because of the economic problems. I decided to kill some time in Akiba before heading over to the hotel and found some neat Lucky Star racing queen items. Unfortunately, they weren't for sale but rather part of a lottery drawing and I couldn't hang around. Eventually I went to the hotel and just crashed but got some pics for those curious about how it looks. Enjoy!

Last night in Ikebukuro

Thai for lunch.

What I THOUGHT was gonna be my hotel.

o.0 Just missed you, I was staying in the Aizuya Inn just over a week ago before I traveled down to Kyoto. Wonderful little place I really enjoyed my time there, and as I'm traveling on a slim budget the cut in prices was most welcomed. That said with it being so close to Akiba it's hard not to end up there spending money nearly every other day >.<
I'm heading south now and will definitely heading back there at the end of the month before moving on to other parts of Japan. Would recommend this place in Tokyo, have you stayed in other hostels around the area, or in fact in Japan that you would recommend?
My fave is Sawanoya Ryokan in Ueno. Its a traditional Japanese inn run by a family and its only slightly more expensive at around 5000yen per night but you do get to use their traditional onsen baths and it has a quieter feel to it than Aizuya. Neighborhood is nicer too.
Awesome bathroom. I'm surprised that an inn would have all this. Pretty cool.
Quite a surprise for me as well. Each bathroom has its own motif but naturally I prefer this one.
Nice shot!! I love night time Tokyo sooooo much!!!! XD
I really like that pic but I'm gonna get one from Tokyo Tower at night before I leave.
Asahi spotted!
Gotta have it.
Yep, finally found it here locally. Tried the dry and select. Good it is.
My local supermarket carries the six pack for $8.50 which is pure bliss. LOL
They closed permanently or just for a while?!?!?
No idea as no signs in English were present. Capsule hotels seem to be hit hard these days. There used to be one in Akiba but the whole building appears to have been demolished.
AzoBitCity FTW!! Love that place...
Got some really good prices too.
Very awesome indeed!
The poster on the back wall is Starblazers and looks so cool!
Nu Gundam!!
Exia spotted!
Nail!!! Wow! Pretty epic bathroom....
Yeah, I was "WTF" for a sec and almost forgot my purpose in going to the toilet. Almost. LOL
