A surprise to end all surprises!
Some of you may or may not know that I have a real soft spot for Ryomou Shimei from Ikki Tousen. I have small shrine to her in my collection room with 12 figures/statues of her. I have all the anime with her in it. She rocks!
Anyways, the Ryomou Shimei Dollfie has eluded me forever. I have recently been talking to a great friend of mine about this and she has been helping me find auctions on YJA with her in them. So far I have bid on two of them..... and lost both times.
It was quite the letdown for me. I term Ryomou as my "unicorn" due to her being rare to find and harder to obtain. She's mythical and just out of my reach.
Anyways, this leads to todays mail.
I got home in time to run back to the PO and get some packages I was expecting. Two of them I knew what they were but the last one I had no clue. My friend Zakuro just mentioned to me that she had mailed something off and for me to keep an eye open for it. So when I saw a HUGE box from her, I immediately began to think something funny was going on.
Here is the box I got from Zakuro. All of you know what comes inside of a box with those orange "fragile" stickers right? Another thing that threw me for a loop was that I had to sign for this box. Why? Because it was insured. That was odd because Zakuro usually doesn't need to insure her cookies that she sends me. XD
So I open up the box expecting to see LOADS of cookies or maybe jellies and jams in there. Nope.... I see some clothes and some boots. Why do those look familiar?
Now why in the heck would Zakuro send me this maid set when she *knows* I already have one? And why would she send me just ONE eyeball? By this time I am just shaking with excitement of what my small brain is thinking....
There is no way....
It cannot possibly be....

At this point in time, I will tell you all I was in tears. I seriously was. I actually had to sit down and breathe. I think I was literally in shock. Here, right in front of me, was my unicorn. The girl I had always wanted and dreamed about was right here. How? I have no idea. I didn't ask for her, I didn't win an auction for her. She simply showed up at my house.
After some freaking out on my part along with several incomprehensible emails to Zakuro, I finally found out that she found this Ryomou for me and kept it a secret from me because she knew I would lose my mind if I knew she was coming and I had to wait on her. And she had this in the works for a long time now from what I understand. So all those times we talked about me not being able to find one? yeah, poor Zakuro had to keep her mouth shut so as not to spoil the surprise she had for me. Talk about a surprise....
I cannot do anything to properly thank Zakuro enuff for finding Ryomou for me. This was the most kind and wondeful thing I have ever had happen to me. THIS is what this hobby is about to me. Having friends that will go out of their way to help you realize a dream. Knowing that people like Zakuro exist in this hobby makes me feel so good inside. She deserves so much praise that I'll never be able to properly give her.
Zakuro, THANK YOU so much for doing this for me. You are the best friend I could ask for. Seriously, you rock.
I will do another post for Ryomous introduction but I cannot do it now due to me still being on Cloud Nine. I am so giddy and excited that I doubt I will sleep properly tonight! XD
After I got some supper in me, I calmed down enuff to take a couple of quick shots of Ryomou in her Battle maid outfit. Here she is in all her glory!
She is lovely! I cannot get over how beautiful she is in person. I am so happy right now I could probably cry again. =3

I introduced her to my family last night and everyone seemed to be fine. Except Manami... she seems to be stunned by this. I think she may feel threatened a bit. But I'll make sure she knows she is still my number one daughter. ^_^

It was an emotional box opening for sure. I kept telling myself it was NOT a DD in that box, it couldn't be. But all the signs pointed to it. So actually seeing Ryomou in there really put me over the edge. I stared sweating, I had goosebumps, I was breathing funny, everything.... So her plan to surprise me worked flawlessly!
And yes, I do understand what could happen when Ryomou and Manami meet up. It could go one of two ways. Either Manami will go batshit crazy or she will faint. Either way it wont be pretty... =3

A misplaced reality check--which is exactly what I would be doing in your shoes. XD The only thing that could have worked better is if she could have seen the look on your face, either via video or in person. I'm sure said look was absolutely priceless.

If there had been a live webcam or even a video device in that box when I opened it, it would be a top video on YouTube for certain! I did the whole wide eyed deal, I took my hand and slapped it on top of my head and dragged it down my face, I stared at the floor for a bit, stared at Ryomou, stared at nothing. I was all over the place. =3
I have a novel idea for her introduction with Manami but I'm still not sure on her intros to the rest of the gang. I do know Mai and Ryomou will be doing fist bumps tho. XD
Heh, Large Hadron Collider. Y'know, that awesome European particle accelerator that a bunch of idiots believed would cause a black hole that would end the world. XD I was tempted to add WIMPS, or weakly interacting massive particles, in there for the hell of it, since that's one of the phenomena the LHC is looking for.

What irritated me about those doofuses is that if they'd bother to just Google black holes they would have seen that any singularities LHC produces would be completely harmless, and that similar phenomena occur in our atmosphere every single day. -_-; There's no excuse for not looking things up in this day and age!

Zakuro, you are by far the kindest person I know and I cannot properly express how I feel about this. You have made me so very happy. I can't thank you enough. Ryomou is indeed safe and warm and she was resting comfortably on the blue couch when I left this morning. I think she has made a good impression so far with my other girls. Manami seems to be in shock tho. I am not sure how she is taking this so I'll have to talk to her alone tonight when I get home and explain that she is still my Number One daughter.
I will make sure to give Ryomou lots of camera time soon. I am thinking this coming weekend is going to be spent doing a LOT of photoshoots! =3

Zakuro is indeed an excellent friend. She has been my buddy for a while now and our friendship means a great deal to me. And that was BEFORE she did this for me. After this, I have no idea how to repay her ( other than paying for Ryomou HA! ). I will have to come up with something good to try and get her back for her help.
To say I was a mess is also an understatement. After seeing Ryomou come out of the box, I lost it. I think I was in shock. Had anyone else been around, I'm sure they would have made me go right to bed after all the color drained out of my face. XD
To me, Ryomou is beautiful... she has always been one of my favorite molds ever. And seeing her in person cements that. I can't wait to get some really good closeups of her as well as other shots in normal casual type clothing. I will do my best to have a good introductory post for her!

I mean there was one on Mandarake a few weeks back for 60,000 yen with slight staining to the head - there is one there now for 70,000 but the staining it MUCH worse on the head that the old one....I decided to look properly for my Unicorn once I get a large sum of money XD
