Radiant Dreamer's Boomslank Giveaway Contest!

Do you ever wish that you were able to express your otaku love, but are afraid of what other people will think of you? I wrote a blog post that talks all about the subject of social judgments and stereotypes, and how to combat against it here:

http://radiantdreamer.net/2011/01/28/otaku-pride-fashion-looking-cool-nerdy/

But more importantly, is the review and contest that came out from it, where I introduce Boomslank's great fashion sense, and host a giveaway contest here:

I will have to say I never really cared for what people thought of my liking of Japanese animation. Being a member of the Armed Forces, Ya my friends in the service picked on me for it, but they never were disrespectfully about it. Just the usual guy jokes that any male will play on each other. All of us had something that we really enjoyed while we were stateside, and we all respected each other for our hobbies. They knew when SHTF I would be there and always be there for them, vice versa.

As for my fashion, I wear my anime t shirts, with jeans or shorts, and my shooting baseball cap which has two patches on it ( Regular Guy tab on the back/ Infidel Strong /or US flag on the front ), and the other items that I wear, I will not mention on this open forum.

The article was a good read, and the little rant up is just my .02 cents on this. The fashion is what I wear, when not in work uniform or service uniform.

Being a teacher, ppl really expect me to be proper & look worthy to be respected. Well, I always wear my Kud-chama t-shirt & other t-shirts from COSPA. Any weird stares on me? I simply brushed them off.

In fact, a few girl friends of mine expressed their disapproval towards my lifestyle, calling me delusional. Hell, I gave them \m/(^_^) \m/

LOL. I would have to say there maybe a limit to how much otaku you bring to the plate. I wear a few shirts here and there, talk about it there and here. But I don't go out of my way to show it off or make a statement while I'm out. Just enough to be proud of what I like and enjoy as a hobby.

This is a great idea, and its has a pretty lay back yet, flashy design. [I mean hip-hop was pretty underground back in the days.. right? So why can't we start a new cultural trend around anime?] I don't see why it has to be viewed so low by society, we should learn to accept new things and try it out besides pointing fingers at things we don't understand. (that would be ignorance).
