Aya Hirano stopped by New York City today OMFG for real in the flesh!!!!! XD
Today is a very interesting day, so I heard Aya Hirano stopped by NYC's Forbidden Planet today out of the blue for about 30mins signing autographs and talking to fans. The sad part to all of this is that for someone who lives like 10 mins away from that Otaku shop didn't check his email this morning and thus missed a lifetime opportunity to meet one of my favorites seiyuu of all time T_T ...I'm making this post just to remind myself that random out of the blue events this epic and awesome doesn't only happens in a dream. So much regret today! *SIGH* :'(

Where is this "Otaku Shop" in NYC. I'm going to be in New York at the end of June for about a week. And also, i thought my Friday the 13th was bad... yours my friend, beats mine outta the water and left to dry... lol
We are on 13th and Broadway by Union Square.
Wicked, i'll have to look for it when i'm around there since i'm sure i'll be lost... lol
Very simple! It's near a huge subway hub: the 4, 5, 6, N, R, Q and L trains all stop at Union Square, and from there, it is a quick walk (so long as you can count!) Across the street from the giant movie theatre: you can't miss it :)
LoL well i'll try since i'm from a place that there isn't subways or a really good public transportation means... But i have friends out there, i'm sure they can let me know or i can just google maps it XD
Hello! Girl who runs the Forbidden Planet manga section here (you can see my hiding between the shelves in some of the photos, Haruhi ribbons, etc.). Don't feel bad: it was supposed to be an incredibly small-scale, private event with people I personally invited to help her do the film segment she was working on for her TV project... but then ANN found out and like three times as many people showed up, so we were unable to do a proper signing as had been planned. (I barely got a book autographed for the store!) In any case, if you would at least like more photos of the event, I am happy to share :)

Cool!! so you're the girl on the black dress as Haruhi right? Do you know what exactly was she filming, is it a documentary about the store or something? I wish she would come back to the city again but I'm guessing chances are drastically low for a superstar to come back twice to the same city? If you could provide us with more pictures of the event it would be great! Thanks in advance!!! :D
Ahaha, yeah, that's me: I'm pretty much a staple on that stool up there, so feel free to come on by if ever you are in the neighbourhood. From what her handlers said, it seemed like she was working on some kind of television project, like a special or something, where she was touring (at least) NYC. Essentially what had happened was that her handler called the store saying that Aya had been looking around NYC for places that sell Haruhi things for this segment for the show. So me and this other guy who works at the store were asked to invite like three or so friends each to essentially plant in the shop for when she got there so we could be all like OMG IT'S AYA HIRANO! Then she'd do autographs and Q&A but it was supposed to be like super set up. But then ANN found out and the rest, as you know, is history. I would imagine she might be back, though perhaps not in such a high-profile way since she did grow up here in the city for a little bit before she moved to Japants :)
