Dollfies and Star Wars

Posted by balldylox

I've been a big fan of Star Wars ever since I was a kid and saw the originals back in the theaters. I loved space stuff and Star Wars was just epic to me back then. I had lots of the toys when I was small but I never got any of the bigger toys because they were expensive. But I played with what I had like it was going out of style!

Years later I got older and sold most of my SW stuff at garage sales and such. I always regretted that too. But then I found out that they were available for sale in comic stores and in Toy magazines. So I started to recollect them starting with the figures. Then I got the vehicles and playsets and I finally wound up with every Kenner SW toy they made. It was nice to finally own all the toys I never had as a kid!

But I finally got burned out on SW and decided to stop messing with it. I put it all away and started collecting Anime. Then I got into anime figures. That's when I found Dollfies. And the rest is history! XD

So since I still have all my SW toys, I decided to let worlds collide and have my girls play with some of them! We had lots of fun too! Join them as they mess around with some old school toys!

Dollfies and Star Wars

Here are the girls playing with some of the Star Wars toys I like alot.

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Looks like Miyuki is playing with a Snowspeeder.

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Hey Miyuki, who do you have there?

"It's R5D4 Papa! He has orange on him like my hair! Isn't he cool?"

Yes he is Miyuki!

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"And look in here! Luke is wearing orange too!"

Yes he is! That's his X-Wing Pilot suit.

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Oh! Mai and Rei have the Death Star playset out! I loved that as a kid! Wouldn't it have been cool to have one as big as it is to Dollfies? That would rock!

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Hey Mai! Having fun?

"Yeah. I like this setup, it's really cool."

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"This guy is awesome Papa. I want a lightsaber now. Can you find one for me?"

I'll see what I can come up with Mai.

"Thanks! That will be too cool to have!"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Lets see what Rei is up to.

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Hello Rei, how are you?

"I am fine Papa. Just checking out the sensor array here."

Oh yeah? Is Chewbacca helping?

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"He is actually. For a walking carpet, he is most useful with sensors and machinery."

I'm glad you like him Rei. ^_^

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Ah look! Mamimi and Yoko are playing with the Ewoks! How did I know they would like the cute fuzzy bears? XD

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"Hey Papa! Look at the bears!"

They're called Ewoks Yoko.

"Teddy bears!"

Sigh.... teddy bears it is.

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"Isn't he cute?"

Yep, they're pretty cute dear.

"Why does he have holes in his feet Papa?"

So he can stand on the playsets better Yoko.

"Ahh! Ok!"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Do you like the teddy bears too Mamimi?

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"Oh yes! They're so cute! I like this one best!"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Ah, I see Manami is playing with my favorite toy!

"Of course it's your fave Papa! It's because *I* am playing with it!"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"I have General Veers and an ATAT driver in the cockpit already."

As you can tell, Manami LOVES Star Wars and knows all the characters names. She's a SW nerd like her Papa. XD

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"And back here we have a Snowtrooper and another driver. He's on break."

Ha ha! I bet he is!

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

M - "Hey Mister Ted, have you seen my spear? I can't find it!"

Y - "No Mister B., I haven't seen it anywhere."

<<Giggling ensues>>

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"Whoo hoo! Ride'em cowgirl!"

Umm, Manami, I don't think that will hold you too well....

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"It's fine Papa! Lookit me! Yeeeehaw!"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Miyuki - "Hey! Let me ride too!"

Manami - "Ok, climb on up!"

Miyuki - "Yay!"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Whooo hooo! Hot cowgirls comin' thru!

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

"Aren't we cool Papa?"

Yes indeed you are girls!

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

M - "Hey! You wanna drag race?"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Manami - "Bring it slowpoke!"

Miyuki - "Yeah! You aint got nuthin in that but groceries!"

Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfies and Star Wars

Mamimi - "Ok go Yoko!"

Yoko - "Why do *I* have to push?"

Manami - "Hit the hyperspace button Miyuki!"

Miyuki - "Umm, where's that at?"

    That looked like a lot of fun! The toys looked really big next to everyone. Manami riding the AT-AT was great. So who won the drag race?

      When I first thought of this shoot, Manami riding an ATAT was the first image in my mind. XD Of course Yoko and Mamimi won the race.... the ATAT didnt move on it own but Yoko pushed Mamimi to the win!

      The ATAT was one of the toys I never had as a kid due it being expensive back then. So when I grew up and could afford it, I got one!

              I want to say that when I bought it as a kid, it was about $2.99. When the first wave came out back in 1978, they were the same price as a gallon of milk... $1.99. Man, times change so much.....

      Ah nice! I agree that SW stuff can kill your bank account fast. I used to have a lot more stuff but I needed to fund my trip to Japan somehow so I sold off about half my collection. That part was almost all prototype stuff and was worth a ton.

        The Original films from the 70's and 80's are what you need to watch. Forget about the newer ones until AFTER you see the originals, it's way better that way.

        Don't local libraries lend out DVD's? I bet you can find them there. And it's free!

      Dollfies are about 2 feet tall. They range in height but are generally 58-60 cm tall without shoes on.

      HA HA!! Excellent statement and I agree! Friggin prequels... XD

      Thanks about the pics! Mamimi and Yoko won the race because the ATAT can't move on its own. Yoko was pushing Mamimi so they easily won. Manami and Miyuki still celebrated like they HAD won tho.... =3

      Ha ha! Frankly, so was I! I had a hard time getting Manami to stay up there on her own. I figured having Miyuki too would really suck. But having two of them up there actually made it easier to sit them down. I did have to shift the legs on the ATAT a bit to carry the load better but it worked out fine!

    Haha, awesome! Kind of makes me want to get out some of my old toys for Agatha, but what I thought was fun when I was a kid was definitely not what she thought was fun. XD She doesn't care much for equines, which I had a lot of. However, she does think that AT-AT is pretty groovy, and has remarked that with a few hours and some parts she could install a steam boiler in that for you. I don't think it's sunk in past the sparky idea that it's made of plastic. XD

    Am I right in suspecting this was shot before Ryomou's arrival, or was she just not into the Star Wars stuff?

      Thank you! I can't see Agatha playing with MLP or any other sort of horse related toys unless they were mechanical in some way. That's funny about the steam powered ATAT tho! =3

      You are correct! I had this already shot before Ryomou arrived. She kind of threw off my photo posting lineup a bit! I had 3 more shoots done as well that I'll be posting soon that are also sans Ryomou.

        Heh, yeah. I'd love to make her a steampunk horse or robot unicorn someday, but other projects need doing first, and I'm waiting until I find an inexpensive bait in the right scale anyway. (The only way I'd go expensive is if Domuya comes back and does their BJD horse in gray.)

        Speaking of a steam powered ATAT, I once found pictures of steampunk-modded Star Wars figures action figures someone made. They were pretty cool! Steampunk Vader was particularly cool.

        That's a good idea-shooting a bunch of stories in one go, and then posting them incrementally. I might have to give that a try over summer break, especially since I'm taking Agatha to some scenic places. Though I guess in your case it backfired a little. =P

          Steampunk horse for the win! XD

          I saw those steampunk SW figs before... they were so cool. That same guy did lots of other styles of them too like Fuedal Japan ones. Really neat stuff.

          I almost always do 2-3 shoots at one time. Set one up, shoot it, restart for the next one, finish it, restart for next. I did FIVE of them last Saturday. XD

            Yeah, it has the potential to be totally awesome. I do need a bait first though, one I won't feel too bad about cutting, sanding, painting, and sculpting on. That means it's got to be relatively inexpensive, but still in the right scale, which is a tall order I've found. ^^;

            Oh, I vaguely recall seeing the feudal Japan ones too, but I think that and the steampunk were the only iterations I found. Not sure what got me looking them up in the first place even; I haven't seen the original trilogy in years, and won't suffer through the prequels again even if you paid me.

            FIVE? Dayum! Marathon photoshooting, almost a sport. XD I can't really pull that off in my apartment; I really need natural light to get good shots in here, which leaves me a couple hours at best when the light is decent. Of course, I also haven't acquired a tripod yet (I have a lead, but haven't sussed out the details), and also still need to put a patch on my camera to get access to the manual mode. Those two factors will probably help a ton.
