Mai & Mamimi visit Brookgreen Gardens
I recently went to a doll meetup about an hour and a half drive from me near Myrtle Beach SC. We went to a place called Brookgreen Gardens and it was awesome! We were there for over 4 hours and didnt see HALF of the place.
I could only handle bringing two girls with me this time so I decided to bring my two newest girls, Mamimi and Mai. Only Mai had been out to a park before but this was Mamimi's first trip anywhere.

When we first got to the park, we are greeted by THIS wonderful sign! XD Mamimi hasn't seen gators in real life yet, only in books and on TV. So she wanted to see one in person. We had to move on tho since I didn't want her trying to pet one.
Mamimi decided to climb up in this huge tree. It was her first climb so she was really excited!
Mai decided to join her in the tree.
It seems that the Volks striped DDdy undies are quite popular with girls! XD Mai and Miu were wearing them.
All the Dollfies at the meet got in the tree for some cute pics.
Yoko and Rin are Asian Ed's and Miu belongs to D'Ann.
Here, Mai and Mamimi go to pose in front of the fountain. Mai is wearing the Alices Collections outfit that Mamimi wore in her first post. I was amazed it fit so well. But the chest area *is* a bit tight. =3

Mai got really excited about this elephant for some reason. So I let her ride on it for a bit. It was quite fun to see.

Mamimi finds a baby goat and poses with it. The DDS body lets you do so many nice poses that the others can't do. And it looks so natural too.

After all that posing, the girls sit down to rest for a bit.

Thank you! It's easy to take them out with a group of people. Even if it's just you, ignore anyone you see. If it's just you and your girl, it's easy to take pics and have fun.
As for AC orders.... I can't help you there. My girls ALWAYS need MOAR CLOTHES!! XD

Yes, they are. Except the bra does not fit my DDdy even though the size said DDdy! :/
I find that blue striped bra doesnt fit Mai well. It's like its almost too small. But I still love how she fills it out!
I might modify the back with a longer loop one day to fit. :D

That Pink Chiffon dress is designed for the M bust girls only but will fit on an L bust. I am not sure it will contain the awesome curves of the DDdy body! XD
My friend broccoli has a DDdy Mai and it fits her Mai. It should fit my Mai, too. She says it's a tight fit with the top shirt on, though. I'll just have her shirtless. LOL :D

Well, it *was* tight but I just wasnt paying attention to it enuff to see when it got loose. I'm mad I didn't fix it because now it bugs me. :(

What a lovely park! Now that Agatha's shoes have come in, I've GOT to get her to Lynx Lake and Oak Creek for photos in June. ^_^ Been wanting to do a photoshoot in both places since even before I adopted her. XD
Mai does go oddly well with flowers, and Mamimi does too, but I expected it from her. =P And I have to agree with several people that the Rin Statue Molestation shot is priceless!
Yes, Brookgreen has been around ofr a hwile and its really well kept. Loads of artsy stuff around it.
And yes, you NEED to get Agatha back outside! Those shots you did a long while back of her in the yard with all the cacti and such were cool.
I think Mai is very nice with flowers... she made me really happy with her posing and wonderful outfit. And of course cute little Mamimi was excellent in flower shots.
Out of curiosity, did you have to pay a fee to get in? Most parks around here that you get in for free certainly don't have nice flowerbeds like that, though they do at least bother with grass a lot of the time.
Oh yes. Thank you, by the way! Though a couple places I'm taking her this June aren't desert. They're actually mostly deciduous forest with a lot of wild understory foliage. Northern AZ has a few such places if you know where to find them, where local fresh water bodies support leafy plants in the middle of the dry high desert. I'm going to try to get some shots of her in Sedona proper though, admist the desert brush and the red rocks if I can wrangle it.
Yeah, I agree! Though there's a certain irony in Mai doing well with flowers, considering she's a fighter in her original media. (Not that I know all that much about her character. ^^; )

Well, even tho Mai is a fighter, she's still female and she likes girly things sometimes. Flowers are a nice way into that side of her personality.
Ah, okay. That explains why it's so well-kept! The closest equivalent here I can think of would be the Desert Botanical Gardens, though that's more like a zoo for plants than a place to hang out.
I've been crazy busy, that's why! Although I don't graduate until December, I'm already starting on my portfolio work, which involves not only making the layouts for the pages, but fixing up old pieces, creating business cards, display boards, DVD cover and label for my demo reel, and my resume, all of which has to get signed approval from teachers and my academic director. In July I'll be doing a similar process, but with my website and the items in my demo reel itself. Oh, and all this is on top of several other classes I'm also taking, though luckily this quarter two of those are producing pieces that I'll also be sticking in my portfolio.
So, yeeeah. I can't WAIT to have the time to take more pictures of her! I *finally* took in the sides and shoulders of that green dress last night. It's not a perfect fix, since that green brocade is too fray-prone to stand up to more involved alterations, but it's a big improvement, so she can look snazzy for the local comicon next weekend. Not sure what do do about the hat yet though, so she may have to disappoint any Jägers in the area. =P
Ah, it's good that she's got that kind of balance! I actually suspect that Agatha would be a bit of tomboy if she didn't have these old-fashioned ideas of propriety. XD She does like the green dress though, so she'll get along with frills once in a while.
Yes if Brookgreen was public, it wouldn't look half as nice or have all the statues and art stuff. I think it was like 7 or 8 bucks to get in.

That's not too bad for such a pretty place to hang out! Kind of makes me miss Balboa Park in San Diego for some reason though, and I can't put my finger on why. Maybe I just flat out miss Balboa Park. XD
Yeah, I've sometimes wondered lately how I've found time to sleep. Things are going well so far at least--I'm actually close to being done with lighting and texturing two pieces that I started on this quarter, and just need to add some dirt to one from last quarter before doing my final high-res render. (And I'm guessing that doesn't make much sense if you haven't used a 3D program before, but basically three pieces that have been a thorn in my side are almost done.) But by mid-June I'll have a pretty PDF with all my nicest stuff in it. ^_^
I DID! I'll definitely get some pics of her at one of the doll meet things at Comicon, and may try to snap a few before that if I can squeeze it in. No story, sadly, but some shots of her modeling might be possible.

lol...silly tourists! The way some people's mind works is pretty scary. Even though I'm not from that area at least I know the gators weren't put there on purpose. I just know I don't need a sign telling me not to try and approach the gators and make friends...lol.
Heh. That's just it tho. In this day and age, if you DON'T warn the idiots, someone will try and feed the gators some leftover fried chicken and get their hand bitten off and then sue. So it's a case of CYA with them I think. XD

Well, besides being sisters and friends, Mai and Manami have a close bond and they both understand each other well. And since Mai is my resident fighter anyway, she takes to being a bodyguard easily. I think she's more comfortable in that role than just coming along and being pretty. =3

That was a really wonderful place to have the doll meet and take pictures. That place must be huge if you were there for 4hrs and didn't even cover half of it. Makes me wonder even if you set aside the whole day if you could make it through it all. Too bad it's so far away from me. I would love to visit there myself. :)

Mamimi is so white with that attire, Nina's wearing an all white attire too recently. I love Mai's dress, the details goes nicely with her eyes. I like the flower garden scene where Mai has a flower on her hair and Mamimi by the pond.
The sun was so bright out there that even with a lens filter she came out whiter than she actually was. Still, it's a really nice outfit. I'm a big fan of Mai's outfit too! I just found out they make it in red too so I'll probably get that too.
