REAL OR FAKE??? SEGA MIKU RIN FIGURES AND SNOW MIKU!
Wed 2011/05/25 01:23 JST
Hi guys! I need a little help here~ I came across a seller on facebook, saying to sell both sega miku and rin figure @RM 200, without box and all. Seller claims it is genuine, I have second thoughts, and so are my other friends. But I would like to share it here anyway, and see if anyone can spot it is a bootleg or the real thing ^^
Thanks!

strange lines?
what is this?
omg horrible paint job
strange lines/gap again
????
strange gap lines
where is the transparent effect?
gradient here is missing
detail color missing?
CRAZILY UNEVEN PAINT JOB
UGH>
AGAIN>
Are you sure? Not just the paint job, but there are suspicious mould marks on the figures... and isn't snow miku a nendoroid??? the gradients and details are missing too.
I think that the Miku and snow miku figures are authentic (bad paint job because, well, we're talking about prize figures here, not scaled figures). I'm not sure about Rin though...but I say that she's authentic too.

Well looking at it back again, they do look fake. But look at these pictures: http://myfigurecollection.net/image/Miyu1280685547.jpeg ; http://myfigurecollection.net/image/Rafafye1281837532.jpeg (notice on this pic that it has the same seam line on her "gray neck collar" as the one in this post).
They are all from myfigurecollection.com and are all pictures of the authentic figure. As you can see, the pictures do not have as much attention to detail just like the figure pictures of the seller in this post. There's a black "overpaint" on Rin's right eye: it's probably a defect on that one single figure that the person is selling.
ALso, there are 2 versions of Rin and Miku! http://myfigurecollection.net/item/4740_vocaloid_kagamine_rin_ex_figure_sega_crypton_futur http://myfigurecollection.net/item/8968_kagamine_rin ; http://myfigurecollection.net/item/4741_vocaloid_hatsune_miku_ex_figure_1_8_sega_crypton_f http://myfigurecollection.net/item/13588_vocaloid_hatsune_miku_ex_figure_ver_1_5_sega_crypt
The normal version, and the 1.5 version. What the seller is selling is probably the normal version of Rin and Miku, not the 1.5 versions of them (1.5 has more glossy touch).
Miku pictures: http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/11539&ref=item%3A4741#top-11539 (This one is authentic and it has more defects than the one on this post).
BOTH Rin and Miku figures are REAL!
There IS a Nendoroid ver. of the Snow Miku, but the one in this post is the Nendoroid Petite version.
pic: http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/51848&ref=item%3A25359#top-51848 .....looks JUST like the figure on this post, the little marks on the arms are defects (or small marks that the figure received) of this one single figure!
They are ALL authentic. The seller isn't lying!
i do agree that all of them are authentic =)
i have never seen bootlegs of the SEGA Figure set of Miku and Rin,
around ebay.
cant see the first two photos =/
but seeing the color i think it's the 1.5 version
so its a nendo petite huh... it explains the missing details and gradients then... thank for your help!
but comparing the photos, i cant see the uneven paint on miku's hair tho

if it is real, then it a very bad quality figure by sega =/
take a look at this one: http://myfigurecollection.net/image/night8131234066441.jpg This one is real. If you look closely, you can see that the hair has bad sculpt too.
What should we expect? SEGA isn't very good at making scaled figures...and this is a prize figure, at that. I have the sega prize yui figure (legit) and her hair is pretty bad, too, with some over-blotches of paint.
Also, Yui's face doesn't look like the character.

and the petite snow miku has gradients too!
It has gradients on your picture, but look at this one: http://myfigurecollection.net/image/kilani1267698135.jpg
and Mikatan's pic: http://myfigurecollection.net/image/itsjustsaul1261985868.jpg
As you can see, the gradient effect is minimal on these 2 figures just like the one here. Those picture links you put are production pics after all, so they have a lot more detail put into the official pic prototype than the produced figure.
Go on eBay, the site with the most bootlegs being sold. You cannot find any bootleg figs of the sega miku and rin and the nendoroid petite snow miku!
the cd packaging is different too, from animetsu's page

That packagind is only for the CD, there is one for BOTH figure and CD (which is in fact the one in the picture of this post). Here's a link: http://www.pireze.org/blog/?p=14820
and another: http://cgi.ebay.com/VOCALOID-SEASON-Nendoroid-Petite-Snow-Miku-Yuki-Miku-/360243447042
This link is from eBay. The seller is selling it for $160 and is from Japan, so it is highly probable that he is selling the legit snow miku nendoroid petite + cd. Look at the picture of the packaging that the seller put, isn't it the EXACT SAME as the one in this post?
All these 3 vocaloid figures are 100% legit.
looks like imperfection
Probably fake, should be translucent here with snowflakes too.
Missing "Vocaloid" text here
All figures are FAKE. They all have poor, uneven, flakey, paint with rough surfaces. The hair in the Miku's should be transparent and with a gradient. Sorry. Like they say, if it sounds too good to be true, you already know the answer!
Yeah because the seller said she bought ans shipped from Japan... I think she wasn't telling the truth after all =/
Thanks for helping me out!
You're welcome. Sorry to hear about the bad deal you got. be careful out there!
That Snow Miku is definitely authentic if its the petite version.
yeah, confirmed it's a petite^^
if can get petite version any cheaper then 115.00 i buy it for sure i paid 115.00 for mine
you mean in usd?
Yes i mean usd :p
Seen the petite version go for around the same amount as the regular sized nendo of her with the CD.
I got the nendeo cheaper then pettite 35.00 cheaper it was hard to find with cd
I'd say the Sega Miku is authentic as well. Not sure about the Rin however.
I think people are comparing this to the nendoroid, rather than the puchi, which it is. I would say real. You only need to glance at a bootleg to tell if it's fake with nendoroid puchi's.
The flaws on the prize figures look pretty normal to me. They're typically sold new for around 1500 yen, which is less than 20USD - less than a Figma or Nendoroid - so flaws like that are expected. They don't look pretty in close-up shots like those, but many of them look okay on your shelf.
It's the Petit Nendoroid, nothing wrong with it ^^
Infact, nothing is wrong with any of them, people are too keen to shout out that things are bootlegged...
IMO they look legit. Prize figures are always prone to have weird seams and sometimes misses in paint jobs since they're really, really cheap. Snow Miku is authentic since it's the puchi and not the nendoroid. I've seen fakes of Snow Miku nendoroid IRL and it's not even close to the quality of the puchi... people should be more careful in looking into what they're calling fakes ~_~;
I can't say anything if it's priced right though, so just make sure to research on the average prices of those prize figures :)
vocaloid eyes are different on this figure, it's fake.
the hair should reach all the way to the pins, you know.
