Intro, I guess. XD

Posted by Marshmallow [www]

I saw the intro stuff people were making, and thought it might be fun to do my own. But I say "I guess" because I've been on here for a long time. I'm kind of late for this though, haha... I hate to admit it, but I really don't go on figure.fm as much as I'd like to... >_>

I'm 14, live in Nova Scotia, Canada, my two most favourite things are old computers (anything pre-2001) and collecting anime goods. But, actually I'm not a huge anime fan, it's just that I don't have much else I'm into, and even the most beautiful old Mac isn't as interesting to display as some little plastic girl. :D

My desk area. Since Otacool, I've gotten a glass shelf and I love it! :)

But who is sitting there?

Tamaki! :D

The lighting is so strange in this picture, but that expresion of mine is ridiculous, it's like :] IRL.

      Same here. I remember how totally awesome it was to gain colours. Believe it or not I went from 640x400 1 bit to 640x480 8 bit and I found the new screen totally awesome.... that was a while ago ^^

      I haven't used MacOS classic (as it's now called) in years, yet I guess I wouldn't have any problems starting to mess around with it again. After all I knew the system well enough to figure out I had a virus just by finding a strange and unfamiliar file in the system.... now how many can do that with windows? :P

      For the record: the virus just beamed into my computer. I checked my downloads and no virus. I sent an email to everybody I might have exchanged files with and they got insulted telling me that they wouldn't spread viruses and that mac don't get virus. Well some macs did get a virus. I think there were 31 known viruses or something at that time. None of those survived the transition to OSX :D

      I have a PowerBook 5300cs running MacOS 8.1 (I think it's 8.1). Sure it has a broken monitor cable (broke several times due to poor internal placement), but the rest sort of works.

      Hehehe... just wondered what it would be like to use that computer to watch DC.com. Maybe I should try. After all it could be fun to use a computer which is older than a number of the current users. After all Apple started selling them in 1995 (though I didn't get mine until 1996)

      I also have a working Commodore 64, but that one lacks ethernet, so it can't watch DC.com... no fun ^^;

        I don't know what browsers were used on OS8, but browsers for OS9 are really the worst part of the OS. iCab can display current websites fairly well, but is extremely slow, and IE 4.5 is fast, but can't display many web sites correctly. Honestly, I think the only site I can get to work properly on IE4.5 is Google. XD
