Help, my Aigis is fake?
So i now own an Aigis figma.
Question one, does it being made from china mean its fake? And no, i have to shiny sticker.
Next, i just noticed when i opened her up the paint was kinda cracking at the torso, that i can live by, but what i cant stand is the fact that i cant actually turn her head anywhere. Is this a regular problem?
I've uploaded some pictures i hope you guys can make sense of it. First the neck joint just doen't seem to allow for much movement. Heck she can't even look up or down, only a little bit to the left. I've done my research and found that she should be able to look all around and even turn her head 360 degrees. I should also mention that there was a fist with a defective socket and the stand that plugs to her back, kinda had to force it a little. They came all together. Other than that i can't say much or compare it with anything else since she's my first figma. So please if anyone could tell me if it's a fake or just a factory accident or even if it's supposed to be like this(cause mine could be the re released version which may or may not be diferent, i wouldn't know.)I would be very grateful.

Notice the neck, just so you know, its a bit small, making it hard for the joint to turn at all.

And notice the yellow part under the hair, that's what prevents her from ever looking upwards.

That's all she can turn. Anymore force and the neck will probably break.

All she wants to do is look almost 90 degrees to both sides, but she can't cause her head might fall off. Then how come her cloned sisters out there can?

C'mon anybody? I am sooooo very desperate to figure this out. I don't even know if the store will take it back if its a fake. She costs RM120. That's Malaysian currency for about 30+ US dollars.
My Aegis has the Atlus sticker on the box. But first you can check your Aegis figma base, there should be a "Atlus Co. LTD blah blah" printed on it (besides the MADE IN CHINA print).
Oh yeah there it is, Atlus Co, ltd 1996, 2006 all rights reserved. then made in china. okay that's settled, im that much convinced. But how come mine cant turn its head for more than 30 degrees to the left? Can yours? Cuase if that's so i'm gonna see if the store will replace mine. I paid quite some lot of money for this baby and i demand excellence.
Oh and thanks for caring saber.
You are welcome. My Aegis can turn her head 30 degree to the left just fine, but her neck joint is stiff.
Oh but can it turn 360 around? Cause video review of the same figma could, and it seems as though mine would snap at the hinge at the neck joint where it should let her head look up and down, but also can't. If you know what i mean.
Aegis can move her head 360 degree, though I'm doing it very slowly. But just as Kenneos said, some figma suffered from stiff joints problem, my figma Nanoha's hand joint is very stiff and tight, it took me a lot of works to remove the hand, in the end I just applied baby lotion to the joint, and problem solved.
Is that so? Hmm, well i'll still take it back to the store and see if i can replace it, the paint on mine, which is only two days old in my possession, i a bit cracked. That's not suppose to happen right? And I really hope that hinge won't snap cause when i turn the head, all the force acts on that hinge in picture 1.
My figma miyafuji at first have the same problem, after play it it a little the problem was solved, try to take the hair off and try to play with the piece a little. as normaly the figma pieces use to be a little bit hard to move but after move it a little all the ploblems are solved ^^
Honestly the figma are perfect for the size and the quality they got, and they are really cheap in comparation with scaled figurines
Thanks for replying Kenneos, but my figma, when i tried to turn the head, it seems as though it'll snap at the hinge in pictures 1 2 and 3. Yet, in a video review i saw of the same figma, i would assume his aigis was new since it showed him opening the box, yet her head turned with ease. Mine can't even look down because of her chin. Which is weird.
And judging by your pictures, I think the neck collar thing on your Aegis is smaller than mine or your neck joint is pushed further into the joint-hole, because I can see a gap between the neck and the collar thing of my Aegis. Maybe you can pull the neck joint up a bit and see how it goes.
I know right? That collar does seem smaller. That's why I can't turn it much. Cause when i turn the head, that hinge is just too big for it to turn. I'll see if i can pull it up a bit. Gently of course.
Ahahah, nope. That neck joint is stuck in there good. And that large hinge in the small collar is whats preventing the head turning. When did you get your Aigis By the way?
I got my Aegis few months ago, from Mandarake. I'm sure the neck joint can be removed from the main body, it is not easy though.
Damn. But yours turn with little to no difficulty right? Just to be clear, yours has a wider collar for the entire neck joint to move in all directions smoothly? I'll have to check with the store later.
Yes. Hopefully the store will let you exchange the figma.
TBH it looks like it could be a bootleg. Unfortunately I don't have a figma Aegis to compare, but things like the white joint in the head, not being able to remove the head and the fact that the figma hole in the back is perfectly round (it should be hexagonal) leads me to this conclusion. Where did you make your purchase? I recommend ordering from the source (HLJ, Hobby Search, amiami, Otacute, JList) if you can get away with it, authorized dealers (AAA Anime Distribution) as a backup, then trusted sellers on eBay (98%+ ratings.) Local stores will usually carry bootlegs unless they get their goods from Japan directly or through an authorized distributor.
Someone sold me a bootleg Aigis. But I got my money back. Who was your seller?
The bootleg has some interesting characteristics. For instance, the joints do not "stick." Instead, they are rubbery. If you try to close the legs, the ball joint do not give and slide to a new position. Instead, they flex. The paint is noticeably odd. Details were off. And the packaging was wrong. For instance, the box was not glossy but faded.
From the pics you posted, I can't tell. Do the fingers look pretty good? How are the joints? Was everything sealed properly?
...Question one, does it being made from china mean its fake? And no, i have to shiny sticker....
All Figmas up to now probably come with a MADE IN CHINA stamp somewhere. Do you or do you not have a sticker of authenticity?
...Next, i just noticed when i opened her up the paint was kinda cracking at the torso, that i can live by, but what i cant stand is the fact that i cant actually turn her head anywhere. Is this a regular problem?...
Post a pic of the "cracked" paint job.
Stop trying to turn her head. You are going to further deform its neck slot. Your Figma's head is pushed into the neck slot past the edge of the hinge joint. In other words, part of the hinge joint at the base of the neck has been rammed into the much tighter neck slot causing the neck slot to deform forward, essentially giving her an Adam's apple.
If you want to be able to twist her head all the way around, you have to clear the hinge joint of the neck slot. To do this, remove the face plate. Then bend the hinge joint forward 90 degrees. And then deliberately begin to pull the head out of the neck slot. You will not destroy your Figma, if it is authentic. The hinge joint is anchored to the inside of the back of the head, I believe. The hinge joint will slowly slide out of its neck slot. Pull it out all the way. This way, you will be able to twist the head left and right more easily. You can now slide the head back into the neck slot.
Be mindful of the depth. The hinge joint is wider in circumference than the neck slot. And when you slide it in to the edge of the slot, you will notice that the neck slot has been deformed. Do not be alarmed by this. Some Figmas look better with "shorter necks." Others look better with longer necks. Figma Aigis has very long legs and a very small upper body and head. Decide for yourself whether you like this Figma with a long or short neck. If you decide a shorter neck is best and that the original position of the head looks best, then that means you will not be able to twist her head unless you want to completely deform her neck slot by flaring the edge of the neck slot 360 degrees around.
Figmas generally cannot look upward unless it has a special neck joint. This is unfortunately a consequence of the manufacturer's design.
...I should also mention that there was a fist with a defective socket and the stand that plugs to her back, kinda had to force it a little....
What does "defective" mean?
Stands can be stubborn. Some people scrape them a bit. Why don't you try dipping the Figma in a glass bowl, not used to serve food, of scalding water for a few minutes. This will soften the plastic for a few seconds. When you take it out of the water see if you can screw the stand peg into the back. I don't know if it will work, though.
From looking at the shape and condition of the hinge joints and the quality of the skin paint on the face, I am inclined to think that the Figma is authentic.
