HELP!! STICKY FIGURES

Hi Figure.FM! Sorry there isn't any artsy pictures, but recently I found out my Haruhi figma has grown a little sticky, along with my Saber figma. So I washed all my figmas and kept them in their little bags they came with and hid them inside a cupboard. When I checked on them again, Haruhi seemed to be in worse condition.

I'm in Hong Kong, so the summers can get really hot and I can't leave the air conditioning on 24/7. How do you guys keep your figures in the summer? And are there any solutions in un-stickyfying figures?

I remember a post on here that said to put them in the freezer for a little while. I can't remember how long though. >_>

I experienced the same problem with my Saber. Her exterior appeared a little "sticky," greasy, and such... I suggest leaving her in the freezer for 10-30 minute around once a week...

Did the freezer trick work for you?

Yes... but a warning... once you start the freezer thing, you have to make it some sort of commitment to do the routine once a week. Otherwise, the PVC getting used to the freezer will only make the problem worse if you forget to do the routine.

          Yup, thats right.
I tried it on my ZakuII SD gashapon, it works but you need to do it routinely.

Also don't drop the frozen part as it can break.

Yeap! It has to be a routine since once you do the freezer thing and stop doing it, you only raise the sensitivity of the PVC to heat.

Hi! sorry for the bother but if you just place it in the freezer for 5-10 mins, do you still have to do it routinely? i thought of asking you since you seem experienced :D

As we have mentioned, yes. Once you do it for the first time, it'll have to be done routinely (at least once a week), otherwise, you're only going to make the problem worse.

Once you've put it in the freezer, the material starts to rely on that temperature to keep its composites in tact. And if it does not receive that temperature, it will only become more sensitive to heat and will get more "greasy and sticky" than when you haven't started the freezer-routine yet.

I also need to know if keeping them in the figma bags are a good way of storing them inside a cupboard. I read for some people ziplock bags scratch the figures, but I'm sure GSC wouldn't make bags that damage their figures.

I sort of understand why you'd keep them in bags since it keeps the humidity away, but wouldn't it be hotter in a stuffy ziplock bag?

No, Ziplock bag does not scratch the figures, but sharp/rough parts in one bag might scratch one to another.

Since I don't have room to display mine, I keep all of my Nendoroids and Figmas inside ziplock bag and put them all in a tupperware-like container.

I'm in Indonesia, in summer will extremely hot too.
To prevent humidity, I put a silica gel inside the container.

Seems like with the kind of hot humid weather, the ultimate of PVC figures is to become sticky.
My Chou Yuusha Haruhi and Nagato Yuki have shiny, slightly sticky hair now.

Also have a bunch of SD Gundam gashapons that I have for about 10 years and they have also become sticky. Mostly because I panel-lined and painted them.

I really don't know if dealing them of is a good idea PVC sweats ......also cardboard sometimes has a coat of wax on them to help from getting wet .....the wax has another only and can yellow your PVC figures .....well it did to my SD Gundam anyways I could be wrong

It gets really really hot here...but it's a dry heat so I've never encountered anything like it! I hope they get better!

My Saber figma is the only one which share this problem, at least for now. Saber's skirt is now a little bit sticky. But putting figures into freezer is not a good idea for me. Basically I have to take business trips from time to time, preventing me from doing this routinely... What a disaster.

i have this problem with only a small handful of figures - none of which are my figmas thankfully. but the ones that did get sticky are pretty bad and have been for a long while. the figures in question are ones i've received years ago and i had little knowledge in figure care.
