Gundam AGE Toy Exhibit

Posted by Samshio [www]

I posted on my blog a bit ago on the new Gundam series that is airing in the Fall.
I published a post on the new models and toys that they are coming out with in the fall and winter as well.

I really am not at all interested in the designs of the suits yet and I am not sure about the story and what sets up the anime. It does seam a lot directed towards a younger crowd.

I might only get Gundam Age-1 (Normal) when it comes out later, since it's the only one that catches my attention xD

Definitely have to wait until the story's got aired though

So far Age-1 is the only design I can relate to and not rejected by my body too LOL...

I made another post as to what the synopsis is and how the story sets it up to the present(where the anime starts).

The trailer for the upcoming series...some of the characters look like they are drawn from Jack Black or Detective Conan...especially the scientist guy who has a huge nose. He looks like Dr. Agasa.

They should of kept the character at the teenager age - ex) Kira Yamato, Heero Yuy, Setsuna F. Seiei or any of the older generation Gundams. I am assuming the industry wants to start anew from a childish Gundam so it attracts a new generation of a Gundam fanbase in which will purchase Gundam models (Gunpla).

We need the love/romance of teenagers/young adults such as Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed/Destiny - Setsuna & Marina from Gundam 00 - Heero Yuy and Relena Peacecraft.

The Gundams are poorly designed as well. (Definitely not purchasing for Gunpla)

Other than that - I will still watch this show because it is GUNDAM. However, I am not overly impressed with it.

at first i thought it was crappy but upon closer look i started to like this. I might say *which others probably did* looked like a combination of exia, rx-78 , reborns, I might be wrong though. opinions vary.

I'm probably more interested in the enemy suits. Now there's a faction that knows how to intimidate. :)

The suits don't click with me and just going on the trailers and promotional art I'd feel silly to expect an engaging story line with interesting character development. Pass. I was hoping for another UC series *cry*

If anything, this seems like a weekly Bandai commercial. The upside to this is that if it can attract a younger audience to Gundam toys and Gunpla then I can't really complain to that.

For the models, I should suspect that kids would use these model kits on the upcoming arcade game developed by Bandai Namco and Level 5.

Oh, and these kits will have an embedded chip that it can scan to that arcade game... or so I heard!

The Gundam AGE-1 is a definite buy for me despite the design... I'm a sucker for title Gundams, though the generational concept is pretty interesting and will definitely look forward to how they'll execute it...

This is just my opinion, I respect anyone who likes the design or the concept of the show. But honestly, the designs look really unoriginal.. the grunt suit looks like its from Full Metal Panic and the enemy suit look like its from Eva. Kind of disappointed that the creators are moving to a younger audience. Gundam was a anime about loss and war for the most part. But using designs like this and kids as pilots that uses a power ranger like device to turn on his Gundam just kills me..

it seems that this new series is like the original gundam series and gundam 00 fused to make this series... as the main gundam looks like exia and rx78 together... hmmm, looks good though, looking forward to see how the MG model turns out!
