Now that Erika is settled in i could use some advice on dolffie care.

Posted by Deathmaw

Thanks for all the messages in the last post guys!

I just have a couple of issues i could use advice on.

1. Her hair at the back is REALLY frizzy, i have a small brush but i don't really want to brush out her curls any idea's?

2.Staining shouldn't really be an issue as all her clothes are either white or have an underlay.
But if the socks do stain is there a way to remove?

3.I have managed to secure the Wig with bluetack xD made an extra rim on her head that keeps it on.

That should be all for now thanks!

Here are some pictures of Erika scouting my house and meeting some of my other residents.

As you can see here the frizz is quite bad.

Nice to see your girl settling in.
1: Dunno, would like to know too :P
2: If you do get stains, you can remove it with acne cream that has 10% Benzoyl peroxide or you can get Remove-Zit which is quicker at removing stains. You can get a body stocking from Cool cat collection if you want to dress her in dark clothing. Or you can get some light coloured socks, also from the same place.
3: If you do get something from Cool cat, you'll most probably get a free silicone head cap. Won't blue tack get a bit messy sticking to the fabric on the wig?

Also, if you want a stand with a tripod mount. You can pre-order it from Dollfie World and it should be coming out next week.

no blue tack doesnt actually stick to the inside of the wig.
    Its kind of a mesh.
Im using it to make the outer head wider so it wont slip off rather than to stick it.

Good luck with Erika! She is definitely a cutie! <3
I use a toothbrush to comb my girl's hair very carefully. There are hair care guides if you search around figure.fm. Good luck.
With socks/stockings, I experienced staining on the bottom of the feet a lot.. I bought some Oxy 10% which lightened up the stains!
    As for the standing, dollfies in shoes can usually stand by themselves. What I use (I'm seriously low budget) is a large waist hold stand that I bought at my local art store. (the kind you would use for an American Girl or the like) then just use it as a thigh hold. It's really nice except the wood stained my girl's bare feet so I'll make sure to have her wear shoes next time! ^^;;

Be sure to give her tender love and care. As for the curls, you should be able to brush them as long as you are not rough with them and yank on them. Maybe do a little at a time very lightly. I do that with my girls and it seems to stay just fine. :)

If you're looking for a stand, I highly recommend Cool Cats thigh stands. They're sturdy, the ones with the square bases can stand great on carpets, and if you make an order they'll usually send you a free silicone wig cap. :D

Congrats! Missed the arrival post so I'm saying it now. :)

What I vaguely recall reading on Den of Angels is that you can comb the tangles out, then wet the hair, and wrap the curl around something--a pen or a drinking straw--to re-establish the curl. You'll have to leave it like that until it's dry, but it should help.

For stains, I've noticed the benzoyl peroxide has been recommended already. It really does work, but be prepared for it to take some time--at least a day, more if the stains are severe. Washing the socks might help remove excess dye to prevent the stains, too.

My girl's wig stays on fairly well without assistance, but what I've heard other people do is take rubber bands and put them around the doll's head before putting the wig on, as the rubberiness increases friction. Big ones will work better, I'd think, like the ones you find around broccoli and asparagus.

    Congrats. She's really cute. :D

use the Volks hair brush, which is really a toothbrush. Although, it might be anti static. I dunno. I works well, though. Start at the bottom and work your way to the top. This prevents even more tangles. Starting at the top just forces the hair at the bottom to tangle and tighten more. You'll end up breaking the ends. Don't use a human sized comb, or brush. I made that mistake originally and lost all of my wigs individual Dollfie sized curls! :(

I think the only special thing about the Volks brush is the point at the bottom end. A normal soft toothbrush works really well, I just bought the cheapest, smallest-head soft brush at the supermarket and don't have any complaints. It tames frizzy wigs like magic. As long as you're careful, the curls shouldn't have any problem, they're set in there with heat.

Here is my suggestion my friend. ^^,

NEVER EVER USE EVIL THING SUCH AS BLUE TAC to secure the wig. I use the heavy duty double side tape, that's more practical and will not stained the head. I've used blue tac to hold the eye and now I regret. (You should know what this mean.) ;)

Erika is my first love but too bad that we're not mean to be together right now. Perhaps in the future.

If it was me, I will not use her original wig but instead get her a new wig to serve as, "everyday wig".

I will also get her clothes to serve as her "everyday clothes".

and also... I think not to late, congratulation for getting her. ^o^

I am using Liese Juicy Shower ( Any hair moisturizer should do just fine ) with a toothbrush to maintain all my Leeke world wigs. Somehow my curl wigs were able to curl back even if you brush it straight with toothbrush. Liese Juicy Shower does seemed to darken the wig color very slightly. I've tried initially on one wig, now on every wig I own.
