Fake GSC Akashiya Moka spotted
I was browsing in one of the local stores a couple of days ago and found Akashiya Moka in one of the shelves. I was excited because I thought I was going to see the lovely Moka IRL, but then I was saddened to see that she was actually a fake, priced at around 1/3 or 1/4 the original price. Forgive the image quality since I was ninja-shooting using my cellphone camera

When I saw it at first, I was fooled into thinking it was legit. One look at the price tag though, and it's obviously a fake. It's priced at 1499.75PHP (approx 31.85USD)

A closer look into her hairline and the paint job was horrible. So many rough places and the SEAM LINES D: I was sad for Moka. The bad paintjob isn't too evident in this photo though

In the photo, her dress here looks okay, but when seen IRL, the ruffles of the dress look too much like plastic. Also, they put some "nail polish" on her, but they obviously painted part of her fingers as well.
This fake was spotted at BestToys in Greenhills. Sad to say, she was displayed right beside a genuine Alter Bounty Hunter Yoko, and near a Saber Lily ~Distant Avalon~ which I'm not sure if she's legit or not.

Did you tell to the vendor that it was a fake ?
They're really selling fakes. They even have a small shelf dedicated to fake Nendoroids. I just didn't think they also sold fake scaled figures
i wish there were stores of here in THE U.S.A that does not sell fakes , fakes are terrible really. i visited a local anime shop here in florida called zen garden, sold some fakes -_-
What's good about BestToys is they have separate shelves from Originals to its Fake counterparts...
Well, for the scaled figures though, they didn't bother to separate them. Moka was displayed beside an original Bounty Hunter Yoko.
I meant a fake Moka wouldn't be in the same shelf as the real Moka. XD
i see that too,why all GSC figures/Figma have a fake/bootleg figures? is that defective or something?
Probably cuz these are famous products... And since there are many anime fans in the Philippines, they think introducing these to the low-class public will let them earn a lot....
I don't think they're defects. They're made from cheaper material and obviously have been made with less quality.
I also agree with Gon 29point55's comments. Original figures are too expensive for most people here so they give these fakes as alternatives.
And since anime is something very famous around here, the availability of fakes (as cheaper substitutions) would let them earn quite a lot...
Wait till you see a shop in Singapore that ONLY sells fakes ^^;
LOL. There are shops like that here in the Philippines too. They're a bit hidden though.
The store where I saw Moka though, was really out in the open and is really known for being a collector's toy store -- which makes me sad that they do sell fake scaled figures.
Her fingernails looks like they dipped them instead of painting them *~*
OMG I just noticed. It makes her look like an evil witch. D:
i hope the guy that sell fake figure die early!>,<
*patiently waits for the day when these bootleggers get sent to jail*
I hate walking into a local store seeing fakes. But is unavoidable these days all around the world.
*hands Ninjovee the "Keen Eye" badge, the "Proper Evidence" badge, and the "Nice Reporting" badge*
Nice reporting on this. :3 Pointing out the evidence and noting the blurry parts was what reporting is all about. Plus, I also wanted to add that you should look at the smaller details as well, such as the pieces of plastic (and plastic bags) used by legit companies are never used by bootlegs. (If it doesn't have that, which is used to protect portions of the figurines, then there is an extremely good chance it is a bootleg.)
Thank you!
Actually, I have yet to own my own scaled figure (that is brand new) so I have pretty much no idea about the very tiny details regarding a scaled figure's packaging. Thanks for letting me know!
lol @ the painting of her "nails". :D
Ugh... I used to look for figurines there too. But I decided never to buy.
Fakes are not worth it. And not being able to spot a fake is even worse. I hope
they close shop soon.
I know Good Smile Company ran an article on how to spot a fake Saber Lily on
their site, but I can't seem to find it right now. Some specifics i remember
are: box should be silver, the tube that attaches to Avalon should be transparent,
the base should have a Fate/Stay Night logo, etc.
But given how good the counterfeiters nowadays are, I'm sure they'll improve on
these. *sigh*
In any case, if I knew a shop sells fakes, I wouldn't buy there anymore. Segregated
or not, I just don't trust them anymore.
the counterfeiters won't improve in quality they don' check those products.
they only try to earn fast cash.
to think about the price for figures it is a bit to expensive
Damn....someone has to do something about this. seriously!
Working hard and saving money for a beautiful figure until suddenly you realized it's fake, ugh, not worth it....
I have the original, and it looks like the skin-tone is really off, and yeah the dress frills look terribly molded.
Dang! This is why I always preorder new from trusted online stores nowadays and never buy from retail or ebay. There are just too many bootlegs in retail!
I'm terrified of Fakes. I never wanted to buy Nendos because the one time I did from a store, I found her to be fake when I got home. I still love her, but seriously, knowing you have a fake is just a stab in the heart after thinking you found something authentic.
I asked the vendor there and they said the owner must have bought them for a low price.
