Ikoku Meiro no Croisée
Hey! I haven't noticed any Anime talk here in a long while. Well, maybe one GoSick article, but that's pretty much it. I first spotted this Anime on a random Japanese blogger's article with Shinki's so I checked it out and liked the vibe that trailer gave many months ago. Waited patiently and I'm actually pleased with what the first episode showed.
I just want to know what are your thoughts on Ikoku Meiro no Croisée. Even anything minor or trivial. Do you like Yune, the Anime, the French setting, or the BGM/OST? Anything? Not your cup of tea?

I've noticed many people comparing Ikoku to GoSick because both Yune and Victorique both look like dolls - One from Europe and the other from Japan.
If you're the shy figure.fm'er then here are some to help express your opinions:

And to me, Yune reminds me of Shinki Kohiru (Busou Shinki) because of her looks. Ya, the Type Chopstick girl with a similar kimono, decorations, and personality. Well, personality might be a bit of a mis-match, but it's close enough haha. Kohiru is more playful while Yune appears to be more...reserved, shy, and very formal. Well, both are formal. And on a nice note: Yune is from Nagasaki, Japan.
As for the Anime itself:
I actually like the pacing, the music, the location it's set at, and the character style. Animation and art style is also pretty nice on here. Both this and Spice and Wolf touching a nice rare sweet spot about Europe. The calm atmosphere mixed with Yune's moe-ness is a nice mix. Wouldn't want to see her in any ecchi-comical situations. But that's probably just the first episode so let us see where this Anime takes us? I haven't read the manga so I'll be going on a blind ride lol.

First Episode Spoilers:
- Ha! Yune formally bows only to have Claude mistake her formalities as a perverted slave type gesture. The expression he had towards her formalities was amusing XD. Oscar (the old guy) then sighing and telling Claude about not understanding the "Glory of Japan".
- After noticing that she's at fault she offered her most valuable kimono to make up for an accident she caused due to her excited curious carelessness. I thought the offering of the kimono was cute; good intentions with a bad idea.
- Seeing both Victorique (GoSick) and Yune (Ikoku) at awe while noticing difference in scenery. Both were like a child in a candy store at the height of their controlled excitement haha!
- Yune apparently knows both Japanese and French. She probably tried saying she knew the language but was interrupted by Oscar after the sign-post was repaired once. And thought the French narration at the beginning and the end was a nice touch. They could of tried a Nightraid or [C] Control touch by adding in actual French. I'm pretty sure that there are lot of French people in Japan. I mean, I keep seeing Japan poking at France and lots of French companies making various media shorts in Japan.
I can see Quebec (Canada) and France using this Anime to pride themselves in the French language and Paris. Have fun with this Anime! It looks like a promising one haha.

I stopped watching GoSick half way through and the general synopsis of this anime doesn't exactly sound appealing to me. Instead I went with Kami-Sama no Memo-Chou :P
Also it might be because I have a thing against the French -,- but let's not get into that :P
I do like the art style of the show, but the general story doesn't sound interesting to me, so thats why I don't watch it :)
Ha, well your choice on the Gosick bit.
But in defense and to be fair for Ikoku: The general synopsis tends to be bland and/or generalizing. I've ended up reading one thing and witnessed various Anime deviating from what the synopsis mentioned. It's deceiving :P. Hope you, and others, keep that in mind haha.
But ya, your choice :D.
mwahaha I see you also raided Pixiv for decent pictures since the normal imageboards have nothing but crap so far. I'm hooked, I pretty much knew I would be by the voice actress and the PV that aired months ago, but really the first episode was just great. The only thing that I'm disappointed in is the episode count of 12. The animation and story presented so far are quite promising. Merienda Yune <3
Yup, and for the reason you stated also (for images).Pixiv has some decent images, as well as naughty unnecessary ones >.<
Funny how you said Yune's also voiced by the Voice actress that did Merienda - Shinki Spoon yet looks like Kohiru haha. *spins*. And if it's short I guess it'll be short and sweet?
Hey, I loved Gosick! And I'm sure that I'm gonna love ikoku as well! Not just because of the loli-moe characters, but because the story is a welcome deviation from the fanservice norm today, and I happen to like slice-of-life anime.
Awesome. Been liking Gosick as well. For those that hated, we'll it's their choice :P. And ya, I'm glad I haven't seen any fan-service yet in either which makes this awesome to watch :).
