An Unexpected New Daughter!
It's exam week at my school and I was just sitting at my desk doing nothing (I have no classes to teach during exam week) other than browsing my fave sites. All of a sudden, I happen upon chun's blog (she's on my list of places I visit) as I was doing my usual rounds in the morning. And, what did I see? Well, there I was falling in love yet again! Neris, whom I really didn't like much till now, and I think a lot of people felt that way because of her default eyes, looked wonderful with her new look. This was the first new look for her that actually made her look great, just like most of the other girls. My memory, being what it is, recalled seeing an auction on YJA for a brand new Neris head. That did it! A quick email to Goody-Japan and a few minutes later, I won her! The auction was for a buy it now bid. That was it.
Now the wait begins yet again. And, I need a DDII body and new blue animetic eyes from Volks Korea (only about an hour away from me) this weekend now.
For those who might remember Yoko from this earlier post: http://www.figure.fm/post/en/28726/A+New+Daughter.html She is on her way. She's arrived at Goody-Japan and is being shipped to me today. With some luck, she should be here before the weekend, hopefully.

hi :) congrats! could you please help me with the words to type in to YJA to get dollfie heads to come up? i recently purchased two bodies and am now in need of heads for my girls ^__^ i'd be very grateful x

I actually just type in "dollfie dream" and a lot of dollfie stuff comes up. Then I pick some of the words next to the English words on some of the more appropriate ads and copy and paste those into the main search window on the home page. This will usually give me some good and/or bad hits. Repeat.
Another way is to go to Mandarake and find what you want there for the Japanese translation and then plug that into the home page YJA search window. I use Mandarake to translate because google translate does not translate these specific "dollfie" type terms well. You get strange stuff if you do. Mandarake also has good stuff and I normally use them for most of the things I buy. YJA is quite new to me. I only use it if I cannot find what I want on Mandarake.
When you get hits, it's easiest to look at all the pages to find what you want. Narrowing the search with the YJA filters is hard if you cannot read Japanese. You can play with them and see what you can get, though. It's easier for me to just read every page.

I'm new to yja too and i find it a little difficult to search for stuff. But what confuses me more is using the proxy service. i signed up for japan to door and i'm still kinda confused on how to actually use it. if you got any tips on proxy services and how to use them i'd appreciate it.
Pretty well all I know about this are in these two replies (above and below). Just go to Goody-Japan and read their instructions. They are quite good.

I use Goody-Japan and it's so EASY. Just read Goody's instructions and you cannot go wrong. Read all their faq's and instructions first. Get familiar with their system. It's not complicated. They use photos and circle all the info you need to have them bid for you. You do the work to find what you want on YJA and then follow Goody's instructions to get them to bid for you. It's EASY! Create an account on their website after you understand how they work. You will need a PayPal account, though, to use them.
TokyoHunter and OtakuInJapan have never returned my inquiries. Goody-Japan did so almost immediately. They operate on Japan time, though. So, be prepared to stay up late, or up early to get them to do stuff for you in real time.

I see you already saw what I was going to say. LOL I've never used Japan to Door before, so I do not know about them. But, Goody-Japan is so EASY to use. You need to sign up for an account first, log into it when it is finally set up and then go to the appropriate links on the left hand side. Once logged in, the page looks different than when not logged in. There are the spaces to fill in as per their instructions. From there, it's easy! They ship anywhere in the world as far as I know.

LOL That's so similar to me. I'm moving back to Canada in September. But, I'm giving my new girls their new bodies first. LOL :D Moving back to the other side of the world will not be fun! :/

The only thing I'm a bit worried about are changing her eyes. She won't like that much. And, I don't want her to look cross-eyed afterwards either. LOL :D Plus, I don't know how hot glue handles. Never used the stuff before and don't know how much time there is to make adjustments before it hardens to the point where the eyes cannot be adjusted anymore. I'll have to play with some to see.
If she's like any of the other DD's I had to mess with hat has Volks glue in her head, it will be messy to get back out. Volks glue tends to get greasy and slimy over time. If you want to change her eyes, make sure you clean out the insides really well. If you don't, the new glue won't hold as well.
Speaking of glue, I have found that using adhesive putty works really well. I get it from my local drugstore, they sell small packs of it over in the office and school supplies area. It's cheap and works really well. It makes changing eyes so much easier and it isn't messy at all. It also allows for easy adjustments of the eyes. I have used this putty in Mamimi and Mai so far and had no issues at all. Maybe you can find some of it locally to try out.
That's what I'm afraid of finding. But, I think I read a (Wolf?) post somewhere that said they just popped out in one piece almost right away. Dunno. Anyways, I found these tutorials:

The drug stores here won't have that. They just sell drugs and that's it. Some of the drug stores here are so small you can hardly squeeze past the counter and opposite side shelves! Anyways, I want to use hot glue again as I don't plan to change them once they're in. I want it to be a one-time permanent fix.
Ah ok. Hot glue will work just fine, it's what Manami and Miyuki have in theirs and I haven't had issues with them at all. I hope things go well for you when you get to doing the swapouts!
