1/144 HG QANT + FULL SABER - done!
Following on from my last post had a bit of a job at cleaning up parts, combination of light sanding & light scrapping with a scalpel/sharp knife things have been turned around for the best! Also thought this would be the last kit I'd build but couldn't resist a chance find in a small anime shop!
Re-primed the parts, left to dry for over a week, also used a dark(black)base on parts rather than painting it with another layer of paint. All parts finished/painted by hand, tried to keep paint thinned down to build up thin layers and avoid those brush marks. A little disappointed that the 1/144 kit doesn't come with many decals unlike the 1/100 version so figured I'd break out the paint pens again and draw (roughly) my own versions on the relevant parts...think they turned out quite well?
Did have a little mishap at the very end, whilst adding the full saber parts - managed to shear off a peg on a piece that makes up the arm that holds the saber (to my horror) whilst positioning the arm. However I found that the diameter of the plastic sprue were a similar size and with a bit of patience/determination I re-built the peg and now all is good again.
*Tip to those who enjoy painting kits - careful when adding additional layers of paint, the kits are designed to fit snuggly together and whilst a layer of paint stiffens the joints, ideal for strong a pose, you run the risk of wedging parts together and when applying extra force shearing/snapping can occur!
May post some extra pics when I get a chance, whenever that may be...

The blue looks more like turquoisish or is it the lighting? I love the Full Saber. They better make one for MG :)
it is indeed turquoise, wanted to deviate a little from the original colours - so went the turquoise/grey/white route leaving only the green of the blades and a touch of gold for the GN drivers.
I was a bit taken a back over the overall size of the saber, all the parts seem to disguise the length a bit - it is a tad longer than the kit is tall! I've seen a scratch built saber for the MG kit, no sure if that will be the only way of getting it
Great model and awesome color scheme.
thanks ^_^
nice colour combi
thanks, not really to dissimilar from the original scheme but I figured since some parts needed a re-paint to match what they were meant to be I might as well re-colour it all, also liked the turquoise/blue found and wanted to use it!
