Japan Loot

Posted by Asian Ed [www]

I'm finally back in the US tonight, though since my body is still on some weird combination between JST and EST, I'm still awake. I give you the loot of my trip! I haven't actually gone and taken anything out yet, but here's everything piled up on my bed. I'd also done some day-by-day updates of the various sights I saw while in Japan, though I still have more to write up... The whole collection of blog posts can be found here..

    Are DD Yoko and Nia still available in Japan? I thought they were a limited edition item. If they are regular dollfies that I can get in a few years, I'm gonna get myself those (if not, well tough luck).

      Actually, Yoko is widely available right now and can be picked up from YJA for below market price. I have seen auction ended at 60k yen >.>;

        I would've expected her to be harder to find surprisingly.

          Yoko was available for preorder twice and my guess is many people ordered her in hope to let her go while expecting the price to go up, but that's not the case; people who wanted her would have preordered her so why wait until auction? Like I said a few times on the blurbs, 60k yen was the lowest price I had seen her in.

        Hmm, guess I paid a bit much for Yoko then... She cost me 78k (brand new). The real find was Saber, which my friend got for 17,820. Oh well. ^.^;;

          Well, you didn't overpay by much. Even if you do catch the auction at 60K yen it would still take about 70k yen to bring her home including commission and shipping. Saber for 17,820?

            Oh yes, that was a heck of a find. She did have a couple stains around the neck from her clothing and I think of of the pieces of armor had a slight crack in it as well. But still, for that price, we were wondering why she was still in the store...

                Oh yes, she was. Especially since he just corrected me and said that the armor wasn't broken on Dollfie, but on another Saber figure he bought (there were several).

      I kind of lucked out on both, especially the Fate UC game. It only cost me 3980 from Sofmap (it was labeled as used, though it was clearly new). Next lowest I found it was for 4500 with a damaged figure, going rate is around 5580. The Shinjuku location of Trader has one on the shelf, as does some of the locations in Akiba.

      Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is one of those slice of life manga that was made into a short OVA. It's ARIA-esque but slower paced. I'd recommend it to anyone who can sit through ARIA. :)

      I've gotten to like those production notes and scripts, since they're so unique. I learned that there are a couple different types as well. Most of the ones I got are copies that are handed out after the producers and directors made their notes. I'm guessing they go to the people actually doing the recording or for others to follow along.

      Then there are the actual originals, with all the notes in pencil/pen (and are truly one of a kind). The Goddess one I bought has an original doodle on the front, seems that the person that had it was bored and wrote "I want steak" in a thought bubble above Peorth.

      Drossel was a complete freak accident. We were in one of the Sofmap stores in Akiba and found a stack of the GSC Saber Lilys. We then went to the back of the store to do some more browsing and came back up to pay. As I was standing in line for the register, I looked back at the Saber stack and saw they'd put out a couple Drossels on top of the reduced stack. For the price, I couldn't let that one pass.

      I was really hoping for a Miku figma though, but couldn't find one for a reasonable price. :(

      I actually don't remember how much I paid for Haruhi, I think it was somewhere on the order of 4500 yen. There were two of them, one came with a drama CD and the other didn't (that was a bit more expensive).
