Hyper Japan 2011
Whilst many people in the US were at SDCC, over here in the UK we had an event of our own going on - Hyper Japan 2011! Hyper Japan is a J-culture event that brings together all kinds of different aspects of Japanese culture under one roof. Though nowhere near as large as SDCC, it still turned out to be a popular event and here are some of the highlights from my photos.
I particularly enjoyed the strange leg massaging machine, the performance by Kanon Wakeshima and tucking into some Okonomiyaki!
If you're interested in seeing and reading more about Hyper Japan, I've posted a show report to my blog at Kyokohunter.net.

did you pick up any of those piperoids? They seem like cute little figures to have! :3
Sadly I didn't but they're really cute - they are actually pre-rolled up tubes of paper, which you just cut and insert into each other to make them. They're really effective!
I queued outside for 30 mins, got near the front just to be told they had sold out of Sat tickets. Next year.
Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. It seems a lot of other people had problems too. Booking up tickets in advance and arriving early seems to be essential for this event.
I always seem to miss this, looks like loads of fun, I'll have to remember to keep my eye out for the next one!
Do go next time, it's great fun! ^^
I remember looking at the dates and thinking that I couldn't make it - but I thought it was next weekend - or maybe that Manchester MCM Expo, oh well.
I went to Hyper Japan! Did anyone else??? And did anyone try on a kimono? I did that aswell ^^ by the way I will be doing a post on my london and hyper japan loot!
Wow, she is so cute!
Kanon-chan!!!!!!!!1 8ATTACKS* Oh!! I wishI was there to see this! I love ALL her music and can't wait for more albums! Very lucky! ^o^
She gave a good performance, hopefully having come to the UK she'll come to the US before too long!
My girlfriend and I went too and had a really great time. I think that my favourite part was probably seeing Kanon. I'd never really heard of her before but my girlfriend likes her so we saw her performance on Saturday. She totally blew me away ^o^ I took lots of photos of her and some video too ^^
I also really loved all of the various Nintendo demos there ^^ (Nintendo fanboy XD). Ooh, and I also tried takoyaki for the first time. I thought I might hate it but I ended up loving it in the end ^^ I'm glad I took the plunge to try it XD
