Street Fighter IV Play Arts Kai Chun Li & Ryu
Joining Square Enix' Play Arts Kai line this time are Chun Li and Ryu from Street Fighter. These look to be somewhat of an improvement over the the previous Street Fighter IV figures from NECA. The Play Arts Ryu figure doesn't seem to have too much(if any) more articulation the the NECA version, but facial sculpt, at least to me, looks a little better. Though, from what I can tell from the pictures, it looks like his skin has the same rough looking finish as the Residen Evil 5 Chris Play Arts figure. It doesn't make the figure look horrible, I think it would just look better without it. The Chun Li figure looks to have considerably more articulation in her legs than in the NECA version, though, the double knee joint that some other Play Arts Kai figures have looks a bit odd on Chun Li. Though, the facial sculpt, IMO, looks substantially better than the NECA version. I'm glad her thighs look better, too. Yes, Chun Li has always had pretty big thighs, but the NECA one seemed to take it a bit far, even considering how she looks in SFIV. The thighs and face are kinda why I didn't ever pick up the NECA version of Chun Li. Anyhoo, I definitely plan on picking these two up. IIRC, Square Enix is also making a Cammy Play Arts Figure, too. Though, I didn't see her up for pre-order at AmiAmi when I saw these two.
Pictures below are from AmiAmi.

I wonder if the hadouken connects to Ryu's hands somehow. If not, it seems like a pointless accessory if you can't actually make it look like he's throwing it.
I think it may have somehow been staged for the photo. It does originate from his hands so if it's connected it should look ok.
I was thinking it might have been staged to, as it seems to be floating in mid air. But as to connecting to his hands, I don't see any pegs or holes for it to connect to. I guess I'll just find out when I get the figure.
Thank god chun ;i has better looking thighs. I'll probably get these two, but I'm hoping they'll make Juri. Juri would be a must have for me.
I just looked up neca chun li and ugh, looks horrible, the one pictured above looks much better. I wanted C. viper from the Neca line but when I saw it in store, I was turned off. The Play Arts version look to have out done Neca. Ryu's Play art clothing looks much more articulated than NECA. I will be looking out for these is the price is right.
Based on the price of previous Play Arts Kai figures, these will probably cost somewhere around $35-50.
I'm willing to pass if it's over $40, I've got enough toys to hold me over. I think even over $30 is too much for an action figure. I've got a play arts Gabranth that looks nice, but I'm sure I got him at a good price.
this pose, as well as his shoryuken are also staged as he is floating. Would have been nice to see Chun Li's Spinning Bird kick but I'm sure it'd have been difficult to believe.
Judging from the picture that shows Chun Li's profile, I'm not sure the thigh joint the range of motion to pull off the pose for spinning bird kick. It may, I just can't really tell from the photos. Anyhoo, if it does, I suppose you could pose the figure doing the spinning bird kick with one hand planted on the ground. A Chun Li figure I got a while back is posed that way and it looks pretty good. Here's a pic: http://www.toysnjoys.com/streetfighter/fightingchunli.jpg
Speaking of hadoukens and spinning bird kicks, I wonder if Chun Li will come with a kikouken accessory.
that pose of the pic you posted earlier looks difficult to pull off , with the center of gravity being off, may not be possible.
According to the amiami description "Include parts:
Optional Hand Part (Open palm ver.), effect parts (Kikouken, w/transparent base), optional face part (mouth opened ver.)" hopefully the kikouken will be different from Ryus.
No Ken Masters lol I"ll Think I'll give a pass on these Im looking forward to the Play arts MGS 1 Snake
Have pictures already been relased for the MGS1 version of Snake? So far I only know of Sneaking Suit Snake, Jungle Fatigues Snake and Battle Dress Snake.
I suppose getting the Play Arts Kai to stay in the pose in the picture I linked to may be kind of hard without some kind of support. Though, I suppose using a clear acrylic block under her legs may help. I was even thinking some type of stand would do the trick to make it look like how she does it in the game. Not sure if the stand comes with the figure or not, but here's a pic I found on flickr that shows a pretty cool shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/swafr/3220125236/
Very nice looking.
