DD and 50cm Clothes?? Help ^^;;

Posted by NagatoPyon [www]

Hii :3 Just a question, I used google but couldn't find anything..
Today I bought a cute hat for Yumi (DD) it was for 60cm Dolls and normally 60cm fits good but this time the hat was a bit too big :/..
Is that normal? And I see so many 50cm clothes (more than 60cm).. Does anyone know if they (or the accessories) are compatible with a DD?
And are clothes for Super Dollfie compatible with DD?
Please give me tips ^^;;;

      And do you know if she's compatible with 50cm or / and SD clothes?

    My limited experience with outfits originally designed for SD or similar sized dolls that aren't specifically designed for DD is pretty much that it'll be a hit or miss.

    I do have some SD or other original designed items that fit perfectly, others are a bit too big, some a bit too tight, some only fit DD, some only fit DDDy...

    Sometimes it helps looking around of other DD owners have similar or the same gear for their DD else you might just have to risk it (taking a chance recommended mostly for outfits that aren't too expensive). ^^;;

      Ah.. T__T...
      Some clothes at (example) Mandarake are for SD and DD... but I guess they aren't originally for DD then?
      It's so difficult to find good clothes for her.. And I prefer buying in stores (since I'm in Japan) than buying online T__T.. Have you any experience with 50cm doll clothes?

        If they are designed/created by Volks then you should be pretty safe.

        So far I've stuck mostly to Volks clothes, Dollmore SD sized stuff, Nine9Style SD sized items, CoolCat DD sized items.

          Difficult ^^;; Why isn't there a bigger selection XD Buying a DD is so expensive you would at least think that they will have plenty in stock / for sale in Volks store too :/

            Sometimes I do wonder that too. Though depending on the style you want your DD to be, getting outfits that you can mix & match could be interesting.

              Yes mix & match would be awesome! I love simple clothes, cute sweaters / hoodies, cute skirts etc. I don't want to dress her up in big dresses etc... I just love simple, pastel colored clothes..suits her white hair.. T__T I was really surprised with the limited supply..

            The Maido set I got for Maiya was a bit tight to get on her. The set was from Dollmore, but she's a DD-Dy body.. (bit snug across the Oppai! ) Looks good, but I'm hoping it stretches a bit..

            My one complain with Volks is while they have quality stuff, quantity is lacking. They will make sets for a limited time, and then thats it. You have to try to chase stuff down online with condition being questionable.

                Tell me about it. I've got my sister making a red with black lace pimped out goth dress with a little bolero jacket for Glenda. ( see my dress dummy posting for what she will look like) but unless you pick up used, you will need to look around a lot.
                Dolk seems to have lots of 50cm stuff, but the 10cm difference in hight means only very loose blouses or skirts might fit a DD.. You will have less trouble with the Dollmore and Obitsu 60cm fashions than I as your girl is a DD or DD-II. DD-Dy have rather large OPPai and big buts by comparison. ^_^ (looks over shoulder to check that Maiya is still occupied with her "project")

    I'm having the same problem with Sae and clothes for her.

    I haven't tried any 50cm clothes, but might give them a try depending on the cut & cost.

    I have had some success with Dollmore clothes as well as Azone clothes. Not much sucess with Panties for her as the last pair I brought for her was a tad to big.

    Her Sailor/school outfit is a bit loose on the skirt so it looks like someone in the family will be taking that in for me and that came from JR toys in HK who are also on Ebay.

    I think buying doll clothes is a bit like buying adults clothes from different outlets - the cut and style will differ.

    You should start making some yourself ^^
    Tokyo got some awesome fabric, haberdashery and accessories stores.
    Can make everything you dream of for a fraction of the price you'll pay on YHJ! as well as Volks.
    And it'll be to your style as well, less frilly ;)

        Ah, ok, well, maybe try some simple handsewing at some point?
        Could always do simple things like stockings, hats, skirts etc.
        You should defo explore the bead shops though, do some jewellery.

    DDs are known for being a little tricky to fit--their busts n butts are a bit bigger than normal SDs, but their waists are way smaller. It's part of why we often end up buying online--wider selection.

    I know Nightfall Walker has stuff specifically for DDs, and Alice's Collection has a few labeled as being for M bust DD: http://www.alicescollections.com/clothes-c-3.html M bust DDs can also wear Iplehouse YID clothes, though not SID or EID. As for Volks stuff, they often label their SD stuff if it'll fit DDs.

    As for sewing stuff . . .Are you on Den of Angels? If not, give me your email and I can send you an invite. There's a section specifically for sewing clothes and making props, with *tons* of fantastic tutorials, many of which are friendly to complete noobs. For doll stuff you don't really need a sewing machine either; hand sewing is not only just fine but in some cases the only way to get into some of the tinier seams anyway. (And as for fabric? Start stalking your fabric stores' remnants bin. Seriously, it's always marked down and almost always plenty of fabric for a 1/3 scale piece of clothing. I've also bought cheap clothes at thrift stores to re-purpose as doll stuff.) And in the "Larger Dolls Discussion" section, there's a DD centric thread where you can pop in and ask about the fit of any mass-manufactured items you might have your eye on.

        You're quite welcome! It does take time to figure stuff out, so I'm glad to help things along. :) And take your time on the sewing; it never hurts to build a little fabric hoard even when you're not sure what you're going to use it for yet.

    This is probably why I bought Azone 50cm doll instead of a DD ^^; I see a lot of Azone 50cm outfits, so I figured I'd be safe getting one of them, lol. Funny enough the dolls sell out fast, but the clothes seem to stick around for a while. I'd be poor if I see nothing but 50cm outfits there 0.o
