3rd Annual L.A. Tanabata Festival
I had the opportunity on Saturday to attend the festival being held from the 12th-15th of August in L.A.'s Little Tokyo with some close friends, so I thought I'd share with you some pictures I took of the event ^^
(Please excuse my amateurish picture-taking skills ><)

Tanzaku tied to a large Bamboo.

Assortment of pamphlets regarding travel to Japan.

Yo-Yo Tsuri.

Catch a new friend for a low fee.

Loads of Kusudama and Fukinagashi.

Hunger called, it wanted Ramen.

Kirin Draft.

I had to go with one of my favorites, Tsukemen.

Before heading back to the festival, we decided to browse about Kinokuniya.

Had to ninja some pictures, but do you see anything you like?

Weller Court was empty today, likely due to the festival.

Ellison S. Onizuka and the Challenger memorial.

Lots of Tanzaku in the Japanese Village Plaza.

Quite possibly the cutest wish I've seen.

The famous Anime Jungle.

The plaza was very lively.

Pictures of the destruction the March 11th Earthquake and Tsunami have caused. They were incredibly disheartening to look at.

Gladly donated money to help these people out.

My lame Tanzaku and hasty attempt at kanji ^^;
May take 16 and 25 years to come true if we are to follow Haruhi's logic..

One of my friend's Tanzaku.

Another friend's Tanzaku.

It was something else to be under these with the wind blowing.

Hopping on the Metrolink back to base.

Pretty sure there are Mikan printed on the package, but I can't help but feel that this was mislabeled..

Little Miku charm I picked up from Jungle.

Probably the closest thing to a nice sunset one can find in my smog-ridden area..

Shirts I picked up during the festival.

Manga and other stuff scored.

Can't get enough of Pocari Sweat during the summer.

Nice Miku poster that came with the issue of Comptiq I bought. It was essentially the only reason I bought the issue.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post.

Love the gorgeous photos!
Thank you very much!
Oh man, that looks like a lot of fun! Wish I could have checked this out. Oh well, I'll at least go to Little Tokyo while at next year's AX.
It was great fun! Do try and go next year!
Lovely photos ^o^
Thank you, Danny!
I bought a #1 Bleach here!! I miss this book store!! We haven't anything like this in Italy...
Hope you can make it back soon ^^
I hope the same!! I miss so much L.A. !!
I was right here in 2009...!!!
Ah, must be a long wait. I usually go to the one in Hacienda Heights.
This is the closest one to me. It was about a 40 minute wait. Well worth it, though.
Ah, I totally missed out on this event. Very nice photos~. Every time I see Tanabata, it reminds me of my relative's home town, Sendai.
Thank you! I actually had plans to go to school in Sendai a few years back.
The UK REALLY needs something like this.. >.<
They're wonderful. I do hope you get to go to one someday if you haven't already ^^
ye ^^, One day... one day....
I remember watching this video. I was appalled at just how much water poured over these walls...and it was so dark too.
I can't imagine what it must have been like to be there..
This place is ALWAYS crowded. Sign of how good the food is
So true! I never see the place without people standing outside.
Great photos! I especially loved seeing all the wishes written :)
Thanks ^^ I'm always amazed to see how many wishes there are.
thanks for the photos! I wish we had these sort of events here. I envy that you have a kinokuniya^^" If I had one in my state, I'd go there and get something, at least once a week! lol
You're very welcome! It's actually quite tempting to go often to buy things; I'd be poor if I did, though ^^;
so wonderful and festive! I love how colourful it is XD
It was! They put a lot of work into the whole thing.
you did great with the photos too :) Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you, chun! Anytime ^^
omg boku tomo ga sukunai *A*
LOL
Model?
It's a 740sc.
Ahh I see. I'm sort of on the edge right now, regarding whether or not I should invest in a typical dual-core "superphone" or truly dish out that cash for a keita. How are you using yours?
I don't text too much, and my voice wasn't very clear when talking to other people on my old phone, so I just wanted a simple phone where people could reach me and for light texting, and this Keitai fits quite nicely.
I'm just totally bogged down by the hassle of having to check a bunch of specifications with the keitai itself and having to commence in an arduous task of making sure your telephone service provider supports this phone and hypersim etc. It seems so complicated @@
Yea, it was a pain researching all of that information T-T
From what I've heard, a hypersim is a bit more trouble than if you were to get a unlocked phone that works without one, which is why I went with the Softbank 740sc for my first one.
guess your Kino has the same rules as the Kinokuniya here in Sydney with the Japanese mangas
also I see an outdated Softbank :P
DoCoMos are better, recent ones no longer need hypersims
Yea, in my experience, they aren't too keen on people taking pictures of the merchandise ^^;
Ah, yea, I've had this for almost a year now. I like it because it's nice, simple and stylish, but I would like to get one of those new DoCoMo phones like the SH-10C.. when I get some money, of course; They aren't cheap T-T
Still partial to the flip phones :D
I was there...gotta Photoshop my pix. Drat, I could have gotten little Kintaro a new friend.
I never Photoshop or do post-processing on my pictures, because I don't own the software to do so ^^;
You going back this weekend?
Sadly, I don't have the time or money, so no.
The Challenger got recently refurbished. Lookin' good!
Never found out what sort of critter this is.
YUM.
Smart of them...Goldfish do adapt to warm water, but they are happiest at 68-72 degrees F. Doesn't seem to faze Kintaro-kun, though...he's in a 10 gallon tank with temps usually between 78 and 80 in the water. And he does wind-sprints around his tank. The name fits...he's a tough cookie.
Suzumiya Haruhi!!! <3
かわいい~!
Ah Little Tokyo!!! I remember going there every weekend when I was studying in L.A., this post brings back a lot of memories...>w<)
This bookstore is a must for me, I used to have lunch at Curry House and come over to shop for magazine and manga afterwards~=w=
