Team Name: NERV Pilipinas
Both costumes are home made! They are made of rubber sheets/crafting foam bonded with cyanoacrylate glue. Prime painted with acrylic emulsion and then acrylic spray paint. Forged with blood, sweat, tears, and thoroughly over used anime DVDs. XD
Brief Description of Performance: The performance will be mainly a battle scene between both cosplayers with Neon Genesis Evangelion based weapons and battle styles infused with elements from other anime titles as well. Some comedic elements might be thrown in. Cardboard props will be used for buildings (to give scale to the size of mecha) and prop weapons (rifles, bazookas, swords) will be brought to the stage to give more variation to the fighting scenes. Some surprising elements would be a party popper which is a component of the bazooka prop.
The setting is year 2015, Tokyo 3. The Evangelions have just finished defeating an angel and then an argument begins between Evangelion pilots Shinji Ikari(Eva 01) and Asuka Langley Soryuu(Eva02). Asuka's jealousy has reached its boiling point and she challenges Shinji to a duel. Shinji accepts the challenge to determine who is the more superior Evangelion pilot. Evangelion Unit 02 starts the battle by firing a bazooka at Eva 01 immediately. Eva 01 quickly dodges the fire and picks up its weapons. Eva 01 wields its double katana and charges towards Eva 02 who now uses dual hand guns. The bullets do not reach Eva 01 as it expertly deflects the bullets with the katanas. Eva 01 gets close enough to damage Eva 02 but it blocks the swords with it's empty guns and kicks Eva 01 to create enough space. Eva 02 picks up a semi automatic rifle and fires away at Eva 01. Eva 01 dodges the initial fire and blocks the bullets once again with its katanas and weaves its way to proximity. When close enough, it slices the rifle in half and prepares to hit a killing blow. Eva 02 blocks the katanas with its hands and disarms Eva01. Eva 02 brings out its progressive knife and now attempts to attack Eva 01's head. Eva 01 disarms Eva 02 and a fist fight happens next. Blows are exchanged and Eva 01 loses out. It seems hopeless and then Eva01 summons other wordly strength and unleashes a rising uppercut that is reminiscent of a Shoryuken(Street Fighter). Eva 02 is answers with a strangely familiar Hadouken(Street Fighter). A battle using different fight moves from other anime and videogames happens. XDD. Blows are exchanged and who is left standing? Let's find out this coming AFA!

we use crafting foam/rubber sheets/rubber foam. its basically the same material they use for making slippers.

to whoever is judging this, these boys are hardcore. they work their asses of making their costumes and they take no shortcuts. They NEVER commission works(unlike ehem ehem). Also, they have the most entertaining stage skits in the local scene. They also win a lot too~. they are the philippines' cosplay champions! send them to singapore!go nervpilipinas!

Cosplay is not just all about the costumes. Costume "Roleplay". Wouldn't it be better if the person can embody the character's natural features, gestures, poses, expressions, mannerisms because that way the cosplayer is bringing that particular character to life?
In an aesthetic form of art like this, hard work can only go so far. This is when the "it" factor comes in and how some people who are made for these things will have an easier time in this field as opposed to others who survive by trying hard. I believe there's nothing wrong with commissioning works. It's more of paying respects to the creativity and capabilities of other artists unlike other stuck-up artists who would think stupid of everyone else save for themselves and would criticize others who are accommodating and respectful enough to entertain other's works to contribute to their own.
I find it quite sad how you would attempt to increase the value of the team at the expense of others by forcing an unscrupulous comparison rather than letting them be judged on the actual points that matter.

T___________T. i apologize in Joel's behalf and mine as well. i already told him it was out of place and that comment was uncalled for. like i said later on, i'd like to keep the comments clean and positive. i wanted to delete the comment but there is no "delete comments" around here. i cant really control what these people type. too bad commissioned costume/props are allowed (and i thought they only allow commissions in a cosplay contest here in the Philippines)prop/costume making is a very big part of cosplaying.Only the those People with this skill has the right to be called a cosplayer...
that's why i like WCS rules, poser(people only good with posing for the cam) could get in...

Why must we even talk about things that have been decided long time ago. If I were to put my opinion on some rules of any game I would always find some of the rules not to my liking. How about we just talk about facts and support the people who choose to represent our country. I really think that is the real way to go.
It is a given fact that none of the entrance rules were broken. So any complaining is just simply that COMPLAINING. Why must we succumb to such useless banter when all the rules have been decided. Do you actually think that you are more experienced or better than the ones who made the criteria. If yes then why don't you put up a competition of your own.
For now let us support our countrymen and may the bring glory and pride to our own home countries. I for one am excited for our representatives. You should be proud as well.

agreed. like i said, i apologize for any negative comments earlier. i'm very sorry. it wasnt I who pulled out those comments even.(also, being human just makes them put stupid comments sometimes. >_<) and please, do not overlook the other comments that are are positive and harmless. they outnumber those that slipped. Mind you, there are only two of us in here. Alodia & Ashley and our team. You probably know that. She(alodia) knows i respect her and i have admired her work since a long time ago. Ask her and she knows that. In fact, i feel a bit helpless and anxious here because you wouldnt really understand how it feels if you stood against(in the spirit of friendly competition) a person of alodia's stature UNLESS you were actually in that situation. it's hard. okay? it's easy to talk about it when youre not in my shoes but it's hard. she's immensely well known and very skilled in her art so i dont have to apologize if i feel intimidated somehow. She is a big someone and i am close to a" no one". But despite this, i still compete. My friends have encouraged me and despite my hesitations i am here to compete for that spot because i know i have the skill and the passion for the hobby. And that, i think, is still by the rules. so i dont know what you are talking about.
i also want this chance to represent our country because i love this hobby and my country very much. i will support whoever goes. if i don't, i have my whole life out of cosplay to worry about and it wont kill me if i dont go.
