WIP - HGUC Sinanju

Posted by JGINQ

Hi guys need your opinion on this please - I'm using Krylon Low Odour Clear Matte for the first time and I'm not too sure about its effect.

The chest part is complete and the red parts have been coated; I like the matte however to me it looks like there's an obvious white sheen over the original plastic. You can compare it to head parts below.

Previously I was using Mr Hobby Top Coat however I decided to try out Krylon. Do you think it looks alright or does it obscure the original colour too much?

Update: Got the head finished and the Krylon definitely looks good on it imo, no worries from this point on. :)

I think most flat coats give that lighter color effect, it works for me and is not really that detrimental to the original colors of the kit in my opinion. :D

Woah, the gold trim you've done up looks way cleaner than mine. What's your trick?

The only trick I would say I used was to clean up the excess gold with a sewing needle. I used it at an angle to scrape away the excess gold and it turned out well.

Small sharp objects... Hmm, better than my using a hobby file. Doesn't look liek it scratches at the plastic enough to be noticeable. I'll remember that one when I repaint it! Thanks!

Hey no worries and glad to help :) Just as a note I should mention that the black layer underneath the gold is 2 coats of Tamiya Flat Black spray with 1 coat of Krylon Matte Finish so the scraping/scratching isn't as noticeable.

Just sprayed it from the can although I did let the can soak in hot water beforehand. It evens out the spray mist for a cleaner coat :)
