Mecha Monday 38
While they may not be what you think of as mecha in the traditional sense, Vocaloids do count as mecha.
... ok, so we could probably categorize them as androids, but those are still mecha! As many of you may know, Vocaloid started as a computer voice system that would allow it's operator to create songs or other verbal pieces with the proper selection of syllables and notes. Out of this (to my understanding) came various fan drawings of what the characters singing in the program would look like; the "Vocaloid" was born. The most popular of these characters is Miku Hatsune, who is one of the unofficial (maybe she is the official one, I dunno) mascots of Good Smile Company. Miku is even the main figure for the GSC Racing team.
With people making their own video's to original vocaloid songs, sometimes there'd be a Miku spin off character. The most famous of these is probably Black Rock Shooter.
I find it very interesting how a voice program has sparked figures, games, a movie, "Live" concerts, clothing designs, other toys, and from what I hear even an anime. So time to give the androids some love.
I'll mention I don't remember how many of these pictures I picked up here on FM or at DC so I apologize if you don't see any new ones.
