A Wardrobe fit for a Princess...

Posted by NerdyGirl

With the rather unexpected arrival of a second dollfie dream, I faced the issue of what to dress her in, as my dollfie clothing supply is rather small at the moment. Luckily, a thrift store dress from a porcelain doll fit her rather nicely, and made me wonder if the clothes from my other dolls would fit her as well. Below are the pleasantly surprising results, and I am proud to formally introduce the Princess Haruka!

PS/ I am having quite a time with her Leeke World wig. I've washed it out and brushed it repeatedly to keep the curls intact but it keeps frizzing. Any advice on a permanent deterrent to the frizz (rather than temporarily wetting it down) would be most appreciated!

First, a few pictures of her in the first dress that fit, from a porcelain Cinderella. I embellished the dress with a shawl and jewelry from two other dolls.

Next, a dress from a Lenox Little Women doll (the white shawl also came from this doll). The bust seams split immediately when I put it on her, and the fabric was impossible to re-sew, so I patched it up with blue ribbon and a hot glue gun.

Third, a dress from a Franklin Mint Mme du Pompadour doll. This dress became an odd empire style dress once I got it on her, but I added a few silver buttons and modified the front and back slightly; I believe with the proper accessories it will look quite nice.

And fourth, Haruka's formal ballgown comes from a Franklin Mint Cinderella doll (the tiara and necklace are also from this doll). It is quite tight in the back and I had to push up the sleeves, but at least her hair hides the back :)

And in case you were wondering, I have decided that instead of keeping them in their boxes, I will display my other lovely ladies as they are to show off the beautiful porcelain that was once covered by cloth. I have a bit of work to do though as I would like to make them reminiscent of erotic Victorian ladies seen in pictures. We'll see how that turns out :D

I also have a bit of altering to do to make each dress fit Haruka perfectly, but am looking forward to my new projects :3

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed the photos!

Oooh, so you are the lucky person who adopted that pretty girl on DoA, congrats! <3 She really does make a perfect princess, I especially love that Cinderella gown on her.

And y'know, all those porcelain dolls displayed together like that look quite good! Lingerie and porcelain makes a neat theme. :)

Thank you very much! I'm also looking forward to properly displaying the other dolls; most have been covered up so long that it'll be nice to do something different with them!

She's beautiful! Heres a link to a thread on DollfieDreams.com I started when having trouble with my Leeke wig with curls. The last post explains how I resolved things, the wig looks perfect again! Hopefully the instructions are clear:

Ah, that is exactly what I was looking for (turns out I was using the wrong type of brush), thanks for the tip, and for the link! I haven't been to that forum yet, it looks great!

Glad I could help. I was so irritated with Tamaki's wig, it was perfect for her but looked worse and worse every time I brushed it. The combing of individual curls was amazing in terms of getting it back into shape. Also, join the DollfieDreams.com forum, it's fun!

She's got quite the high class wardrobe! I think the first one is my favorite, actually.

I think the green dress Agatha is wearing currently was once for a porcelain doll too. However, since Agatha's got the giant DDDy boobs, there aren't many porcelain doll dresses that will come even close to fitting, so that's the only repurposed dress she's got. Well, unless you count the skirt from the first outfit I made her, which I made from the sleeve of a thrift store shirt. XD

Thank you! Lol, I actually tried to stuff Miu (who is a Dynamite) into the pink dress, but alas she was just too big for it (and was very unhappy about being in such a froofy thing...). At least she and Haruka won't be fighting over their clothing...

So many elegant dresses, though her sisters may not be so eager to share.

Thank you! Well, Miu can't fit into any of the dresses so that alleviates some tension, lol, but I will have to make her a few nice things to wear as well.

Buon giurno, Principessa! I really have a thing for WS Dollfie Dream and I MUST have one eventually. And the melancholy nature of DDH-03 is very much played up with the faceup. Such a sad princess...she needs to be cheered up. I think you are on the right track, however.

I like how the frills at the top of the body stocking look just right with the Cinderella ball gown. Yumiko has a Volks outfit which is missing a "dickie" piece, but the frills from the top of the body stocking make you not miss it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/msgeek/3818355407/in/set-72157620253274880

The "Short Maid" outfit is supposed to look like this:

Really, I like it without the "dickie" and the bit of frill making the decolletage a little more classy. The headdress and the socks I can do without too.

Thank you so very much! I was a bit hesitant about the white skin at first, but it makes her look so delicate and pretty that I'm very happy she is white skin! At least for now she's got Miu to keep her company :D

Oops, posted too soon! Thank you for sharing your pictures of Yumiko; she looks very cute in her maid outfit and the lace from the body stocking finishes it off quite nicely! I never realized how intricate the lace was until I saw it close up :)
