Valho's Imaging Armory

Posted by valho [www]

I have never posted my photography gears here, but since I got some new stuff today, thought I'll just make a post of all the gears that I use in my photography ^^

Not in the picture is my Manfrotto tripod, a crumpler sling bag that I use to store my cam and lens when I go out, 2 Sandisk CF card 4gb and 2gb and a wireless remote

Got the umbrella a while back, while the light stand (some china brand one), Manfrotto 026 Lite Tite Swivel + Umbrella Adapter, Manfrotto bag was bought today. Also got myself a Cokin Graduated ND filter kit, with a 67mm adaptor ring.

Canon EOS 400D, my first DSLR camera, bought it way back in Sept 2007. It's more than 2 years old but still serving me well. Don't have the kit lens it's attached to now though, traded it for something better

My fav lens, the EF 50mm f/1.4, great portrait lens

The only zoom lens in my arsenal and the lens I traded my kit lens for, a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8

A lens any figures shooter must have, EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro, makes a great portrait lens too

Cool stuff. The umbrella is a good deal over say soft boxes. I wish I can get a good tripod set up, but I hardly need a sturdy one, just one that can hold a flash in place.

This reminds me that I still need to get my flash kit set up for my Alpha 900, the high end wireless flash head and use my Vivitar 383 as a wireless slave; I got the stuff for my Maxxum 9000 set(4000 AF, 2800 AF, CG-1000).

I decide to use a proper light stand for flash and umbrella after using it on my tripod a few times and found it not really suitable. Only using 1 flash at the moment for me, might get another 580 ex II in the future

You know, I have the exactly same wireless triggers. They are extremely cheap and never failed on me once. For my job I always use the flashgun on camera, so I'm not really worried that they will break while doing something important. I mostly use them for minor things, or just for non work related shots.

    Still, they are working perfectly.

How's the 50mm f/1.4? I've been hearing horror stories of the AF motor conking out since the USM tech on the lens isn't the same as the one on the 100mm f/2.8 Macro.

My to-buy list of lenses are:
    85mm f/1.8 USM
    100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
    70-200mm f/4.0 L USM

yeah I heard about that too before I bought the lens, but decided to take the risk. Mine working fine so far.
The 100mm f/2.8 is a nice lens too.
