Aoi Learning to Drive :o
Had some time to kill at a dock a few days ago, so Aoi took the chance to bug me about helping me work during the day.
Me: Aoi, why did you climb up here on my knee?
Aoi: I know I can't reach the pedals, but I still want to to help you do your job.
Aoi: I'll sit here and steer while you work the pedals.
Me: Ummm.....Aoi....
Aoi: See i can do this!!
Me: Aoi, your arms aren't long enough to turn the wheel efficiently.
Aoi: Then I'll use this knob thingy.
(Aoi struggles to turn the wheel and with no success)
Me: It's called a suicide knob, and I'm sorry, but your really not big enough to turn the wheel. But it's ok, you don't need to worry about it.
Aoi: Oh...
Aoi: Well, then I'll just switch gears for you.
(tries to switch gears, but nothing happened, then tries to reach for the spliter but can't reach it)
Me: Your just a tad short to reach the spliter, so i won't be able to hit my upper gears, plus you gotta time your shifting with the clutch. Don't worry about it Aoi, I got it.
Aoi:.....
Aoi: Then I'll use this!!
(Oh no )
Aoi: I'll use the CB to talk to the other truckers!!
Aoi: Breaker 1-9 for a radio check!! Also looking for the location of the.....
(Aoi mind blanks out for a bit)
Aoi: Aniki, what's the lingo for police?
Me: Bears Aoi, we call them bears.
Aoi: Well, since i don't know what to do, I'll just sit here on the steering wheel and keep you company while you work.
Me: Well, you might fall off when i turn the wheel, plus you kinda obstruct my few, so why don't you sit in the jump seat.
Aoi: Why don't you let me be the judge of that!!!

From what I can see that looks little like the truck interior of the European truck models we see at work.
Interesting. The truck we do have is an old truck, and I'm sure they sell them in other countries too.

The truck is clean. Just that the trash can is full. I hadn't had a chance to empty it.

Hey I just thought of a job she could do for you. If you're getting too tired to drive safely she can handcuff herself to the wheel to stop you. XD

Wow, I havent seen one of these in ages! I thought they got outlawed or something....
I really don't know if they illegal? Only time i use it is when I'm backing into a dock or moving through a truck stop or parking lot with quick and tight turns.
Maybe it was just illegal for them to be in passenger vehicles and not big trucks. I recall a big stink down here about them years back but this was like 15 years ago. Either way it was cool to see one again!
They do come in handy!! I had to pick up another driver's truck awhile back and he had one in his, and the knob looked like an 8-ball!! Coolest one i ever seen!!

The truck is clean. Only thing is i hadn't emptied the trash can that day. The other one has our flashlights and other tools in there, as well as our hand cleaner. Trust me, with both my Dad and myself (and Aoi) living in that truck we gotta clean it daily or if not it gets cluttered quick.
I'm just teasing you a little bit sir! XD I'm sure Aoi wouldn't let you keep a filthy truck.... she'd likely yell at you if you did!

HE actually does keep the truck clean. He just slacked a little that day. Grandpa gets on him all the time about cleaning!!

I think with coaching she could get a hang of the radio.
Do you use a GPS? You could teach her to monitor that?
Also ask her about pulling security while you two sleep if she REALLY wants to help. [Yeah, she'll like that;)]

We have a GPS, but it talks when I need to do something, but perhaps i could mute it so she could have something to do.
Hrmm...That is an option. Guess i better get her some weapons to defend us with!! :P
