2nd Japan Trip - Day 3 Photos - Akihabara
Following on from Harajuku, I once again visited Akihabara! Love it there so much.
I was at work from day 4 till today (day 8). I return to Tokyo tomorrow and have two more weeks in Japan! Only have my laptop with me for work, so won't be uploading any more photos until I come home. I plan to go to Tokyo each weekend. Visit Fuji, Nikko, Kyoto and the K-ON! school, and see nano.RIPE in Osaka. I'll keep trying to AKB48 tickets for the days I'm in Tokyo but doubt I'll win any.

The Gundam Cafe is still going strong near the station.

But has competition from the new AKB48 Cafe & Shop opened just next door.

The take-out section. I bought some stuff here.

Always a lot of people standing around looking at it because it's new :)

"Afterschool of the 5th Year" advert in Akiba station. I really want to buy an art book by them but find it too hard to find them in the shops...

Mayuyu is love.
I've started buying this brand of coffee.
It's really nice!

Another Itasha on show.

K-Books, and some maids trying to business.
I love the pink outfits from Moe-con maid cafe. Visited there twice last year.

The street with Kotobukiya (and more maids)

Don't know if I went in, but the outside of this shop is very cool.

Super Potato!
An awesome videogame shop. I haven't visited it yet this trip but I love it.
And yet more maids on display...

Here's the Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotaku and Evangelion crossover jacket!

The main pedestrianised street.

Getting late, so a lot of shops closed and not many people about. The maids are still out in force though.

Club SEGA arcade.
That "Lady By Tokyo" has started appearing in all the arcades. no idea what it is. But she doesn't look Japanese.

And I ended the day by visiting @home maid cafe 6F.
You aren't allowed to take pictures, not even of your food. But I sneaked a phone photo of my drink because the picture was so kawaii.
The girl I took my picture with (Miyu) was very friendly. There were no English speaking maids today but she talked to me through translation software on her phone! Turns out she's visiting England soon so was asking me for tips and food information, and we also talked about football!
Also, when I went, they were queuing downstairs for the 7F @home. Turns out it was Pon-chan's birthday. She was the maid who served me on my first ever visit to a maid cafe last year. And is one of @home's few English speaking maids. I recognised her picture in the Happy Birthday section, which was decorated all up in a halloween style. This was my first visit to a maid cafe this trip because I was too jet-lagged before. They are always a bit odd and if you can't speak Japanese you lose out a lot. However, I used my one year old @home points card and it seems I've now advanced to a silver member. Which means I've been 5 times. I actually haven't been that many times, I got stamped more times than I visited...

I know the Itasha is great, but this caught my eye too!! Never seen one of these in my neck of the woods!!
This is where some of the magic happens!! Classic arcades like Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros. for 50Yen! You're greeted by a statue of Snake from MGS when you arrive.
True. They have a massive Mario and a massive man-sized GameBoy too!
I prefer other arcades. There's a really good one in Shibuya called Game Monaco, right on the main street near the station which has all games for 50 Yen, and lots of retro!
I been there too!! Awesome place! Went to the Coins Bar after playing for a while to get some nice takoyaki and a fresh Suntory beer!! XD Shibuya is always a blast!!
I went to a @Home 4 years ago but never went again... I don't know if my point card is still valid!?! XD
It says valid through infinity on the front...
Always worth giving it a go, if you want to go back, that is.
They are so unique to the place, I think its worth going. Expensive though. And sometimes they are bad, sometimes good experiences.
have u vistit some hobby shop ? i stil looking forward if u had :)
I drank something like 3 or 4 cans of this a day while I was there @ 100 yen each. Great taste
Yeah, its one of my favourites now. Although only started drinking it because of the AKB48 adverts...
Was it because some vending machines had AKB48 adverts or did you manage to see the "Kiss" advert.
My first can was because I was cutting down some of the side streets to electric city by the JR line and saw AKB48 advertising the coffee, so I gave it a try.
I only saw the TV "Kiss" advert once, and it was funny watching the man trying to do a Kiss the same way as the AKB48 girls were.
I'm going back Dec 2012 so hope to bring a few cans back if I can.
The adverts on the vending machines. I think I have seen the "kiss" advert once on one of the screens in a train here. I bought a can of a different Wonda coffee in a Family Mart which came with a free toy digger, which was weird. But yes, standard Wonda Morning Shot is ace.
