Figma Photos
I was watch a video on how to make people float in photography. Seemed simple enough, so I decided as a test to try it out with my Haruhi figma. I usually have her out anyway just to use as a model for some sketching. I used my Sony a200 and set it to manual focus (once I focused in on her) and set her up in a ridiculous pose. Shot a picture of her and then of just the background. I brought the pairs of photos into Photoshop and used the clean one as a mask to remove the stand that's holding her up. For the image where she's handstanding on the iPod I traced her with the vector tool to use as a guide to remove the figma stand. Hopefully I managed to remove all the little bits. :)

how did you do this?!
I explain it above, but basically I shot two photos: one with Haruhi on the iPod using the figma stand and a second that was just the background (no iPod, no Haruhi/stand). I took the two images into Photoshop and layered them over one another. The background only shot was used to mask out the stand. Bam. Makes it look like she's doing a handstand. It's fun. :)
well, she is god.
I was considering just asking her to do the handstand on her own, but there were two issues with that: 1. she might have found out she was a god; 2. she's a figma.
Very well done!!

Nice shot! Ipod's color just match the color of Haruhi's clothes.^^
Good catch. I didn't even think of that. That's just my old iPod nano I grabbed for the photo.
These are awesome! Great work! You've inspired me to try to figure out how to do this using GIMP (don't have PhotoShop...)
I kinda want to see if Gimp can do it as well. It wasn't a difficult process. For me to learn GIMP though seems like a difficult process.
Haruhi leaps through time! lol
