A Couple ’0′ Drive Ignition

Posted by yunamon [www]

About this time frame last Moon, an impulsive acquisition landed me with a set of Gunpla, something that I’ve ever touched ever since the adoption of me raburi Tama-chwan

Spent the next half-a-Moon after on and off assembling and used up a total of 3 cans of Top Coats just for this thingie… orz

That really brings back my memories of them old Gunpla dayz… :3c

1/100 Master Grade 00 Seven Sword/G is a variation of it predecessor 1/100 Master Grade 00-Raiser and is hailed from the expanded side story Gundam 00V Senki…

Aside from the new blue knee pads designed for holstering the GN Katars, the main body of 00 Gundam is basically an exact copy of the same one packaged with MG 00-Raiser…

Let’s have a look at this 00′s head articulations…

Due to design restrictions when incorporating the light-up gimmick into the Gunpla, the usual ball-type neck joint found on many MGs are scrapped in favour of a T-shaped clear part, significantly limiting the articulation on the neck and head…

Tilting the head sideways are almost impossible thanks to the change… >~<

Rotating the head sideways is rather OK but ultimately limited by the high-neck design of the collar… ^^;

Moving the head backwards is similarly obstructive (Tho doing a kow-tow is quite OK-ish)…

Speaking of light-up gimmick, yes this Mobile Suit does have light-up eyes!

Berry naisu light-up eyes in the dark! :3c So how does 00 achieved this gimmick?

By removing the GN Drive Generator backpack, the exposed 00′s back reveals a compartment sealed by a single lid where you can insert the LED Light Unit (Sold separately)…

Do note that the LED Unit used is the very same one included by MG Exia Ignition… ^_~

Back to the articulations, the GN Drive Generator backpack has quite a freedom of movement there…

Notice a sliding tab above the Generator? It is used to lock the GN Drive in place for posing purpose as heavy equipment are to be docked onto them later (Namely the GN Buster Sword and GN Sword II Blaster, 0-Raiser too if you have the previous kit)…

The GN Drives themselves are removable from their bays…

Of course the Twin Drives have their own light-up gimmick! >w<

The thrusters on the backpack itself are adjustable in an axis to a certain extend…

There’s also a sliding lid nearby that reveals a docking slot meant for 0-Raiser…

Extendable chest pieces on 00 allows a better articulation on its shoulders for dynamic posing…

Feels kinda like how Exia’s chest pieces work, except 00′s are much larger in size… ^^;

A staple of all MG kits: a cockpit hatch that is accessible by slightly sliding the white part above 00′s chest outwards…

A Couple ’0′ Drive Ignition

Comparing with other MGs I have, 00′s abdomen has a rather generous range of movements on all sides and directions, thanks to the attention paid onto the design of them inner frame…

A rather standard articulation on the arms, with the exception of a double rotational joints on 00′s wrist, allowing very natural pose when holding weaponry like Beam Sabres and swords…

An alternate set of hands with exchangeable static-pose fingers following the recent trend of design changes utilised ever since Victory (And recently: the Wing series MGs) is included as well…

Down to the pelvic area…

Each sides of the side skirts has a part-swap gimmick that reveals a slot for the placement of GN Swords II Long and GN Sword II Short when holstered…

The V-shaped front skirt on the other hand, is secured into place via a small tab located beneath it.

By lifting it slightly, you can release the front skirt from its lock and rotate it around…

The rear skirt is essentially the docking rack for 2 of the Seven Swords System utilised by this MG kit: Beam Sabre hilts…

Just like Exia, 00 features a sliding pelvic joints for better posing option…

Superb articulations on 00′s calves, making front and side-splitting a piece of cake…

A Couple ’0′ Drive Ignition

00 also has a rather strange range of motions around its ankles and feet which kinda suffers from the same weakness as seen on Exia (When trying to make the Mobile Suit stand firmly/properly)…

For the finale, here’s several posing piccies thoroughly exploiting the versatile articulations on this fine kit…

i think you should have topcoated everything first before you placed the clear parts..:) i just think that clear parts look better if it's glossy..a great contrast to the flat coated parts..and i think you used too much topcoat cause one can is good enough for two models..and by looking at the pictures it does look like the topcoat got a bit too thick that caused it to look kind of "dusty"..but very nice review :)

I'll take your advise to heart... Yet I kinda like the frosty feel... Looks kinda painted but it is not... XDc

I wonder how long before my future kits... Probably will be a very long while since there's nothing that caught my attention lately... Dang Wing x SEED revitalising MGs.... 0_0
Unless there's an MG Knight Gundam... D:
